The action is reaching a fever pitch as eight teams will do battle to advance to semi-final mayhem.
Here is a preview of each tilt.
Third-seeded Randolph will face No. 6 St. Elizabeth @12:00 p.m.
Randolph beat 14-seeded West Morris, 45-33, last Saturday to get to the Final Eight.
The Lady Rams lost to Pope John during the week, but they have been one of the top teams in the county this season, with a 17-2 record. So, they’ll be tough to down this Saturday. Plus, Angeleen Mulero is one of Morris County’s most complete players, leading her squad with 212 points and 62 thefts, giving Randolph a nice piece going forward.
But upset-minded St. Elizabeth (13-6) has senior Hannah Kelly, who leads the team with 290 points and 86 rebounds. She’s also second in assists with 49 and steals with 33.
No 10. Morris Knolls vs. Second-seeded Chatham @1:30 p.m.
Maddie Hartnett of the Chatham Cougars.Chatham’s strength to its club is its tenacious defense, which makes it challenging to beat. Add in senior guard Maddie Hartnett, a potent offensive threat, and a cast of talented players — Tess Ford, Meja Jaegerskog, and Shannon Donohoe — to the equation and the Lady Cougars (16-4) are a never-say-die bunch of tough ladies to surmount.
But Morris Knolls (10-11) just downed defending county champ Morristown-Beard in the last round, and it will be playing on its home hardwood. So, don’t count out the Lady Golden Eagles, who will be playing the underdog role.
No. 4 Villa Walsh vs. Fifth-seeded Jefferson @3:30
The Lady Vikings (14-6) are coming off disappointing losses to Mendham and Mo-Beard. So Villa Walsh will be looking to get back on the winning track versus Jefferson. The team is led by a trio of gifted seniors in Karin Brett, Kate Gehringer, and Daniella Jambrina, who all can score and play stingy defense. And Don’t sleep on lighting quick junior guard Grace McKenna.
Amanda Nwankwo and Ivana Tisma lead the Lady Eagle attack. Jefferson (17-2) lost to the Lady Vikings last month, so it will be looking for a bit of revenge Saturday.
No. 8 Morristown at Top-seeded Montville @5 p.m.
Emma Wax and Bella Vito have been the main cogs in the undefeated Montville machine. The Lady Mustangs have beaten Chatham twice and several New Jersey high school hoops insiders consider them the frontrunners to capturing the MCT crown this year.
The Lady Colonials will counter with Tara O’Neill and Kolby Lynch, both of whom are really playing well as of late. That alone gives Morristown a puncher’s chance of upsetting Montville.
