I've seen over 20 games thus far in the combined high school seasons of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Today, I'd like to highlight a handful of players I've seen this season who have impressed in the early days of the 2025-26 season. Let's talk about a few breakout performers in games I've attended.

Pius XI has had plenty of talent graduate from their team who've made sectional games over the past four years. Last season, Spector played with three scholarship guards who all graduated this past Spring. Last night, I watched the Lady Popes play for the first time this season, and left Milwaukee impressed with what Spector did offensively. I have known the edge she plays with defensively, and her ability to change games on that end of the floor. However, the confidence she showed offensively throughout the game last night against Wisconsin Lutheran was as eye-opening as anything I've seen this season. Spector was incredible last night.

[player_tooltip player_id='936786' first='Leah' last='Awe']

The SPASH forward had a breakout summer with [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] and drew the attention of some of the premier programs in the country. Awe has been an impactful player for a Panthers team that's looking more like a team that can find themselves in the hunt for a Sectional Title, and a potential trip to the Resch Center for the state tournament. Awe's ability to handle the ball at her size, score from all three levels, defend on the perimeter, and use her length to block or alter shots around the basket makes her one of the more unique talents in the region in her class. Awe has the chance to be a difference maker.

[player_tooltip player_id='889178' first='Tia' last='Anderson']

Deerfield is a team I was high on heading into the 25-26 season, and they've gone undefeated in their first handful of games. However, a talented senior not coming out for basketball this year worried me that the Demons may not be what I expected. However, [player_tooltip player_id='889178' first='Tia' last='Anderson'] has met the challenge of being a ball-dominant guard who can create for others. I saw Anderson and the Demons play just before Thanksgiving, and Anderson ran the show well for a Demons team that defeated a solid Laconia group.

[player_tooltip player_id='842233' first='Marissa' last='Johnson']

The Laconia guard hasn't played prominent minutes in her first handful of years as a Spartan. However, this season, Johnson has gotten her chance to play and run with the opportunity. She has been the best player at getting to the basket off the dribble for Laconia. She has been a double-double threat and has been an impressive creator off the dribble. She is making the most of her senior season and is someone regional schools should watch if they have the chance.
