<p>The 2025–26 high school basketball season is here at Prep Girls Hoops, we continue to be amazed by the year-to-year growth we see in programs across the state. We're always excited to cover teams and highlight the evolving makeup of their rosters. In this article, we take a closer look at the <strong>Shawnee Mission</strong> <strong>North Lady Bison</strong>.</p>

<p>The Lady Bison compete in the always-competitive <strong>Sunflower League</strong>, which features programs from across some of the most talent-rich areas in Kansas, including <strong>Shawnee Mission, Overland Park, Olathe, Gardner, and Lawrence</strong>.</p>

<p>Shawnee Mission North enters the 2025–26 season determined to turn things around after a challenging 2024–25 campaign. North finished <strong>2–11 in conference play and 6-15 overall</strong>, but with new energy and a developing roster, they're aiming to take a meaningful step forward this year. They are lead by Coach Trinity Hall in her 2nd year.</p>

<p>Key Returners: </p>

<p><strong>Tamia Washington </strong>- A senior combo guard returning for North, Tamia led the Lady Bison in nearly every statistical category a year ago. Quick and very athletic, she has <em>two-way player</em> written all over her. Tamia is a solid on-ball defender who can take an opposing player out of the game all by herself. She's also excellent off the ball, using her instincts to provide help defense and jump passing lanes. Offensively, she is well-rounded and excels at getting downhill to the basket and finishing through contact. She can also stretch the defense with her shooting ability, making her a versatile threat on both ends of the floor.</p>

<p><strong>Amaya Thi</strong> - A junior guard who brings a strong defensive mindset to the team, Thi is a hardworking, high-energy player who consistently wins 50/50 balls, hustles for rebounds, takes charges, and is always around the action. Offensively, she shows the ability to step out and knock down the three, and she does a great job getting out in transition for easy baskets.</p>

<p><strong>Ella Wilson</strong> - A senior forward who provides a strong interior presence for the Lady Bison, Ella excels at showing early help on defense and walling up to force opponents into tough shots over the top. She's a physical force in the paint and refuses to give up anything easy, anchoring the defense with toughness and discipline.</p>

<p><strong>Haley Wieneke</strong> - A senior guard with good speed and quickness, Haley Wilson brings strong leadership to the group. She is solid with the ball in her hands and demonstrates true point-guard qualities, consistently getting the ball where it needs to be. Defensively, she's a reliable on-ball defender and does an excellent job jumping passing lanes to create turnovers. Offensively, Haley also shows good range from three, adding another dimension to her game.</p>

<p><strong>Newcomers:</strong></p>

<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1234859' first='Rey-Auna' last='Haywood']</strong> - A junior guard who transferred in from Summer Academy this year, Haywood adds another strong leader to the Lady Bison with her skill, IQ, and poise. She is a physical, hard-nosed defender who excels both on the ball and in help situations. Offensively, she has a strong handle that allows her to get downhill and finish effectively with either hand. She can also space the floor with her perimeter shooting, making her a versatile threat on both ends of the court.</p>
