Cherry Creek Holiday Tournament: Second Team Difference-Makers

The Cherry Creek Holiday Tournament featured no shortage of talent, and the players named to the Second Team proved just how impactful they can be in a variety of roles. Each of these girls found ways to affect winning beyond the box score, stepping up in big moments throughout the weekend. Here's a breakdown of the Second Team standouts and what they brought to the floor.    Annika can score the ball from all three levels of the floor and creates open opportunities for her shooters. She does a good job making the defense collapse while keeping her teammates involved offensively. On the defensive end she crashes the boards and limits teams to one shot by cleaning up the glass.     Karson is one of the more elite 3-and-D players around, with seemingly endless range from deep. She's a threat to shoot as soon as she crosses half court, forcing defenses to extend early. What separates her even more is her comfort pushing the ball in transition and her willingness to attack the rim through contact and finish strong.     Tatum continues to impress this season with her versatility on both ends of the floor. She helps her team by playing any position and filling whatever role is needed. Offensively her ability to knock down threes and get to the rim off the dribble makes her hard to game plan for.     Kyla, a senior forward, really got her season going during the tournament by doing whatever was needed to produce easy points for her team. She handled physical matchups, helped with ball-handling duties, and anchored the defense in the half court. Her impact also showed up in the press, where her effort and awareness stood out.     Khloe played a huge role as a defensive anchor with her ability to block shots without fouling and consistently contest long jumpers. Her presence in the paint changed shots and gave her team confidence on that end of the floor. Offensively, she finished through contact and showed touch by knocking down shots, including the trail three from the top of the key.     Addison is a senior guard who lays it all on the line every game to help lead her team to wins. That showed throughout the tournament with her ability to get steals, defend opposing teams' best players, and set the tone defensively. Even with that workload, she still found ways to put points on the board offensively.
