For the class of 2022, this upcoming year will be another opportunity to be show their abilities, and a year where college offers might start to come in. Here’s a look at some of incoming juniors that I’ve been able to see who could take another leap next season.
1. London Gamble London Gamble 5'7" | PG Westlake Village HS | 2022 State CA – Westlake
I first saw Gamble over the summer at a WCE event. She has all the makings of being an elite scoring guard. She can also slide over and play some small forward. She moves well off the ball and is solid in transition. On ball, she can go coast to coast and finish a play. Good three-point shooter. She has an array of offensive moves. Defensively, strong on ball and picks up full court.
2. Eliana Hall – Peninsula
Hall is a versatile player on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Can handle the ball and attack off the dribble. Decisive with the ball; doesn’t waste time making a play. Plays well in the high post. She can finish at the rim. Strong rebounder who can put up double-digit rebound games. Good defensive player who can guard multiple positions.
3. Gabriela Jaquez Gabriela Jaquez 6'0" | SF Camarillo HS | 2022 State CA – Camarillo
A year ago, Jaquez made a strong impact as a freshman, and she continued that upward climb as a sophomore. She is able to put the ball on the floor and make plays off the dribble. She is particularly strong at getting to the rim and finishing over defenders. Strong rebounder who can start the fast break off a board. She also fights for second shot opportunities on the offensive glass.
4. Jailah Donald – Serra(Gardena)
Donald appears to be one of the top up and coming guards in the state. She is a true point guard with great court awareness and vision. She’s a solid passer who looks to get her teammates easy bucket opportunities. If needed, she can get a bucket herself. She can shoot from the outside and can get to the rim as well. Finishes strong at the rim. A player to watch out for.
5. Amaya Fuentes – Ventura
When I first saw Fuentes back in January, she looked like a player who could have a major impact for the next couple of years. She is a strong post player who shows some good instincts around the rim. She had some big performances in CIF playoffs. She clearly has some skills to work with. When she does get good post position, she can finish well at the rim.
