2022 Rankings: The New Top 10

Today we released our updated 2022 rankings. We have now gone from 125 players to 150 players in the class. We started with over 250 names on our list and had to cut over 100 players off to get to our 150 number. There were a couple of players who made big jumps and a few who fell out of the rankings altogether. There wasn’t a ton of movement in the Top 10 in this ranking besides at the back end. Below we will dive into the 10 players who are among the players in the Top 10 of their class. <hr /> <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#1 - [player_tooltip player_id="13957" first="Hannah" last="Stuelke"] - 6’1 PF - Cedar Rapids Washington HS - All Iowa Attack</b></p> Stuelke retains her top spot in the rankings in the 2022 class and I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon. The lone commit in the 2022 class has been committed to Iowa for a while now and if she had not committed so early, she would have a long, long line of high major offers. Her athleticism and ball control stands out in a class that is dominated by forwards. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#2 - [player_tooltip player_id="63568" first="Brooklyn" last="Meyer"] - 6’2 PF - West Lyon HS - South Dakota Attack </b></p> Meyer has really improved over the past year and she seems to be getting better each and every day. Her ability to score on the inside and bounce to the outside is among the best in the class. Most notable is the toughness that she plays with. She isn’t afraid of contact and in a forward college coaches want to see that motor and aggressiveness. Meyer is at number two for now with her improvements and is starting to see the offers come in. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#3 [player_tooltip player_id="128995" first="Jada" last="Gyamfi"] - 6’1 PF - Urbandale HS - All Iowa Attack</b></p> Like Meyer, Gyamfi is a forward but is much more apt to play out on the perimeter than she is on the inside. You have two players whose college projections are similar but it comes down to preference. If you need a forward who can shoot it from the outside at a high rate then Gyamfi is your player. She runs the floor well and is one of the most athletic forwards in the state, regardless of class. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#4 [player_tooltip player_id="63567" first="Ryley" last="Goebel"] - 5’11 SF - Center Point-Urbana - Team Iowa</b></p> Goebel is one of the most intriguing players in the class because of her versatility. She’s a thin wing who is a very good defender in the open floor. Her long reach really taxes the ball handler and Goebel has the ability to win games with her defense alone. Offensively, her shot looked much better this past year and as he continues to improve on the offensive end her stock will only grow. She is one of the best defenders in the entire class. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#5 [player_tooltip player_id="128996" first="Ava" last="Hawthorne"] - 5’10 PG - Gilbert HS - All Iowa Attack</b></p> Hawthorne showed everyone in the state just how good she was at the state tournament when Gilbert played Glenwood in the first round of the tournament. She looked nearly unstoppable and showed just how valuable she was as a scoring point guard. Hawthorne thrives in an uptempo style of play and she was able to show that in the state tournament. Hawthorne has consistently improved throughout her first two years of high school basketball. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#6 - [player_tooltip player_id="128997" first="Taylor" last="Veach"] - 5’11 SF - Central DeWitt HS - Lady Martin Brothers</b></p> Veach stays at the 6th spot as she continues to grow and get stronger. She is a versatile wing capable of playing both guard spots and at times sliding down into the post to post up on small forwards. She’s a positionless player who will likely end up being a off-guard or wing at the next level. She has continued her offensive improvement and has made herself a more valuable player by doing so. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#7 [player_tooltip player_id="63571" first="Reagan" last="Barkema"] - 6’ SF - Roland-Story HS - All Iowa Attack</b></p> Barkema moves up one spot in this edition of the rankings as she has improved her ability to score the basketball. I thought this past high school season she was able to create space a little better for herself as well as score at all three levels on the floor at a much better rate. Barkema can play every spot on the floor in high school but in college she’ll likely be a point forward type of player. She can handle the ball, shoot it, and slash off of the wing to the basket. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#8 [player_tooltip player_id="128998" first="Brynlee" last="Arnold"] - 6’3 PF - Glenwood HS - Nebraska Attack</b></p> Arnold is one of the bigger post players in the state and she too moves up one spot in the updated rankings. She is a mobile face-up four who has gotten tougher as the year has gone on and has become more comfortable playing in the post with her back to the basket. She has a ton of potential and is only going to keep getting better. The next step in her development is to mold herself into a player who can be a force both on the inside and on the outside scoring the ball. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#9 [player_tooltip player_id="128999" first="Allie" last="Meadows"] - 5’8 PG - Central DeWitt HS - Lady Martin Brothers</b></p> Meadows is one of the top point guards in the 2022 class and she moved up one spot in the 2022 rankings with the last update. She has improved every part of her game over the last year and that was shown this past fall and winter. While she could still stand to improve her 3-point shooting defensively she was very good grabbing 51 steals last season. She also had more assists than turnovers with the ball in her hands. Meadows has continually improved and will look to grow even more this summer. <p style="text-align: center;"><b>#10 [player_tooltip player_id="107012" first="Jada" last="Williams"] - 5’8 PG - Mason City HS - North Iowa Fire</b></p> Williams is the lone newcomer into the Top 10. She took a step forward this past high school season and is in line to have a huge year next season. Williams has a ton of potential and next year is the year where she will need to start seeing that potential turn into high-level production. As a sophomore she dished out 90 assists and had 41 steals. Williams improvements need to come on the offensive end to see her turn the corner from a Top 10 player to one of the top players in the class.
