Five Iowan's That Made The Most Of Their AAU Spring Szn

Here we have five players out of Iowa that have had solid Spring seasons as collegiate recruits on the hardwood. Each individual has shown up when competing on the road with their AAU program over the last few months and that should be highlighted.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    We see an impressive pairing of length, skill, and natural ability near the bucket by Bilim. She moves effortlessly down the floor at 6'1 and she moves in quite the hurry. With her long strides she likes to beat her competition down the floor for easy buckets early on in the possession. If not, she can use her back to the basket ability to make things easy with a simple finish over the top. This Spring Bilim has had her athletic ability on full blast. She is doing whatever she can to help her Pure Prep team as they look to push the tempo down the floor and she looks like a seasoned veteran while doing it.     Westerfield has moved onto an AAU team where she isn't the biggest or most talented, yet she is doing a fine job at showing her worth whenever she can off of the ball as a CG. This is a player that has a solid feel for the game. She doesn't try to do too much unless she knows she has too and she makes smart choices with the rock in her possession a majority of the time. It's hard to move to a new program and do solid work but Westfield has held her own with an impressive Missouri Phenom Iowa 17U roster around her. If she keeps on working on her weakness, who knows what might happen in the future.     In today's game most will say that it's position-less but I don't believe that. You still need a natural PG to lead things, to play defense, and to make all of the teammates around them better because of their abilities to create + facilitate. We get to see all of these skill sets first hand when we watch Whitefeather. She is a crafty player on offense coming down the floor and she makes things easier for her teammates on each possession. I'm not sure where Whitefeather will eventually end up but she is playing convincing ball this Spring out of Nebraska and that's going to lead to interest/offers before you know it.     Brooklyn Ruddy was a standout last season on the Varsity floor for Southeast Polk and with a new coach in place this upcoming Winter, she might be even better over the next two years. Ruddy has that cool and calm ability to get to where ever she wants to on the floor. She moves past her matchups with relative ease and she knows how to defend her own position. I think we are in for a big June high school run from the Rams and Ruddy could be leading that charge. She has been someone to note the last six months on the floor and so I'm hoping that she can continue with that momentum as we move into the thick of Summer.     Creighton is going to be a name we hear A LOT over the next couple of years at the Varsity level throughout the state for her consistent and efficient production. Up to this point we have seen glimpses of greatness out of Creighton but she hasn't had a chance to really let loose and go for it just yet. That should be upcoming this next high school season but we will see. As for this Spring, Creighton did what she was expected to do. She held her own, played her game at her own pace, and controlled whatever she could on both sides of the ball. From a coaching perspective, that's really all you can ask out of a hooper at this level. Now it's just about how she builds on top of that moving forward.
