About Niya
Expert Analysis
Brandon Fisher | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Niya plays with a talented 16U group that competed up in the 17U division and more than held her own. Her height and length immediately stand out and give her a clear advantage. She used that length to deflect passes and alter shots on the defensive end. Niya controlled the boards better than anyone in the gym during the game I watched. She was smooth as a roller in pick-and-roll situations and showed good hands making the catches and finishing around the rim. She looks like one of the premier prospects in Georgia’s 2029 class, and her stock should continue to rise.

Daniels was very good for Wood Elite 2028, dominating one stretch of a game I watched scoring in the paint and getting to the free throw line. Like the other players in this article, Daniels size, skills, and ability to move with fluidity and ease make her a player that college coaches will be very excited about. Daniels, like Ojeme, is fairly new to the state and I watched her for the first time this high school season. She is a match up nightmare for opposing defenses as her quickness and ball handling ability allows her to blow by slower defenders on the perimeter. Niya is equally as dangerous scoring against smaller defenders in the post. She has a very soft touch around the rim stretching out to about 10-12 feet, but is capable of making shots from three point range. Originally from New Jersey, Daniels first year in Georgia she had an outstanding freshman season at Commerce drawing rave reviews from other coaches in the region. Georgia’s 2029 class is loaded with big name players and a lot of talent, but Daniels play and her potential has her right near the top of that list. She has a very bright future, starting with a big tournament in Ohio this weekend.

Daniels was very impressive in person after hearing a lot about the freshman, the hype was definitely warranted. Niyah is a smooth operator with the ball on the block. Daniels used her height and length to score at ease around the basket. She also showed a lot of skill with her dominant left hand in doing so. Her athleticism was on full display as she stole the ball, went the length of the court, and laid it up leaving the other nine players far behind her. Daniels also had some highlight blocks in the game. The potential is there for Niyah to become a high level division one prospect as her game continues to develop.

Daniels, originally from New Jersey, has made quite a splash for Commerce in freshman season averaging 12.2 points (while shooting 48% from the field) and 7.8 rebounds per game. Daniels has very good size already and she is figuring out how to use it to her advantage. Her biggest strength is finishing around the rim, but she continues to expand her range shooting the ball. Daniels uses her quickness and wingspan well rebounding the ball.
