Nogales vs Flowing Wells

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Flowing Wells hosted the Nogales Apaches on Monday night (2/09/2026) It was an exciting game. Nogales would ultimately get the win over the Caballeros. The Apaches had more chemistry it seemed and played as a unit which I felt ended up being the difference maker. She moves well setting screens and cutting to the basket. Verdugo has great post footwork, she scores the ball efficiently with a quick one dribble move in the post. Plays great through physicality and scores well through contact. An effective scorer from mid range. Plays with a very high motor. Hustles for the loose balls and crashes the boards with a purpose. One of the better rebounders I've seen this season in Southern Arizona. Very strong defensively, again with her speed and ability to move laterally very well. She slips through screens extremely well and stays on her opponents. Quick hands to pop the ball out from her opponents. Does a great job of identifying the open lane and attacking. Sees what the defense gives up and is quick to make the play. Has the ability to shoot well beyond the arc. Her elite IQ and ability to see the floor along with her speed allows her to make high level plays. She has a very calm demeanor but she is a fierce defender. Unofficially she accounted for four steals in the first half alone and forced many bad passes. Munoz has a very strong mid range jump shot and scored a few times driving baseline for a floater. She can slice through the defense and can finish the bucket with either hand off the glass. Handles physicality very well and plays through it. Rebounds extremely well for her size and position. Made some really clutch baskets early on that helped the Apaches separate from Flowing Wells. Plays the game with a really good pace and makes good adjustments. Knows her spots to score from and does a great job at getting to them. Quintero played through a very physical game and did it very well. Came up with some clutch shots in the second quarter to help Nogales get good lead going into the half. Showed some great vision and passing ability finding her teammates for the score. Very relentless on the defensive end. Strong on ball defender. At one point Quintero took an elbow to the upper chest/neck area but brushed it off and went and made a play. She knows her role and plays it effectively. Very strong on the defensive end and hustles every second she is in the game. Ponds rebounds the ball really well and does the dirty work. Makes really great passes and doesn't force anything to happen. Helped shift the momentum of the game but the Caballeros would ultimately come up short. A high percentage perimeter shooter in my viewings of her including tonight. Shot very well off the pass tonight and rebounded well for the Apaches. She has lengthy arms and a good stride that gives her a great advantage against her opponents. Made some great moves in the paint that she scored off of.
