With the Illinois market having solid talent spread across the state, it's easy for some players to get overlooked. Wether its their area that theyre in, or sometimes playing alongside a "bigger" name. Regardless, some players deserve more attention outside of what we do as scouts. Below are a couple of players who I've been following over the season that could shake the overlook tagged when AAU season starts

Over the past couple of seasons, Emma has been a strong prospect in the 2027 class. Even as a freshman, she showed a strong understanding of pace in her game, and now, as her junior year is wrapping up, she's been able to grow her skill set and align it with her pace. She's a true two-way player, and on both sides of the ball, she's not limited in how she can make an impact. Defensively, she can stop you on the ball or play the passing lanes and pick off passes with no issue. Offensively, she has a tight handle that allows her to attack off the dribble or use her handle to get to the midrange.

McLelland is one of those young prospects who can hold her own with any of the top players in her class, let alone the state, but she still has so much more room to grow. She's a lengthy wing player with a full guard-like skillset. As far as scoring goes, there aren't too many spots or angles on the floor that she can score from, defensively she can deal with 1-4, and has the heart and energy to deal with a big.. I think a huge summer is ahead for Reese.

As Metamora gears up for the postseason, a ton of its success can be attributed to Koster. She has definitely had big scoring nights, but her defense has been the main thing that she hangs her hat on. She's a prospect that never stops moving. She's aware on the ball, and off it, and in the passing lanes, she trusts her instincts and athleticism to make a play.

If we're talking pure skill... Blanka can throw her name in the hat with a lot of the prospects in the state. When you watch her play, you can tell that 75% of her game is confidence, and she plays carefree, which shows there's definitely some work being done behind the scenes. A player you'll have to make sure you set time aside to watch this AAU season.

Johnson has quietly put together one of the best seasons of her high school career. A post prospect who can space the court, has solid footwork around the block, a smooth midrange shot, and a soft touch at the rim. On the glass, she has the motor and aggressiveness, and shows some mobility in the open floor. As her game continues to develop, she'll for sure draw more attention from college programs. The potential is stronger than many realize, and there is a real possibility of a long term upside.
