Best Overall Team

Stanwood Spartans

Stanwood looked the most complete in the Round of 12. The Spartans controlled the glass, shot efficiently, and maintained offensive balance in a 62–47 win over Edmonds-Woodway. They finished with a 42-30 rebounding advantage and shot nearly 46 percent from the field. Stanwood also converted 16 of 20 free throws, showing discipline in a tournament setting.

The scoring was spread across multiple players, which made it difficult for Edmonds-Woodway to key on one option. When a team can rebound, defend, and distribute scoring in March, that is a formula that travels deep into the bracket.

Most Dominant Victory

Lakeside def. Ridgeline 55-41

Lakeside delivered the most decisive performance of the day. The Lions pulled away in the second half and led by as many as 21 points in the win. Their perimeter shooting created separation, hitting 10 three-pointers, while maintaining a strong defensive presence that held Ridgeline to 29 percent shooting.

When Lakeside finds rhythm from the perimeter like that, they become a difficult matchup. Their ability to space the floor and force defenses to stretch was the biggest offensive weapon of the round.

Biggest Surprise

White River def. North Thurston 60-45

White River delivered one of the more impressive performances of the opening round. The Hornets controlled the game in the second half and extended the margin to 17 points at its peak. They also dominated the glass with a 45-30 rebounding edge, creating extra possessions throughout the game.

White River's balance stood out. Multiple players contributed offensively while the defense held North Thurston to 31 percent shooting. When a team wins the rebounding battle and keeps opponents from scoring efficiently, upsets become much more likely.

Impact Players from the Round

Schmitz delivered one of the strongest individual performances of the round. She finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds, controlling both scoring and the glass. Her ability to stretch the defense from the perimeter while still rebounding like a forward created matchup problems all night. When a guard posts numbers like that in the state tournament, it changes the tone of a game.

Woodard led Lakeside offensively with 23 points and did much of that damage from deep. She hit six three-pointers, which forced Ridgeline to extend its defense. That opened up driving lanes and helped the Lions build separation in the second half. Her perimeter shooting was one of the biggest offensive sparks of the day.

Even in the loss, Crowley made a strong impact inside. She finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds, consistently finding scoring opportunities in the paint. Crowley battled through contact and remained productive despite Ridgeline struggling from the perimeter. Her interior presence kept the Falcons competitive early.

Wortham provided the offensive spark for Stanwood. She scored 18 points while also pulling down eight rebounds and creating plays defensively. Her ability to contribute across the stat sheet allowed Stanwood to maintain control of the game. Guards who rebound and defend at that level bring a different energy in tournament play.
