Players to Watch
Elena Thompson- true workhorse, works outside of practice. Secures most buckets and does well at the line. Can penetrate or shoot from the perimeter.
Alayna Meyer- one of the few girls who understand very well for her age. Knows how to read defense and make split second decisions. Great three-point shooter from deep range. With her height, needs to be creative and she does so.
Adia Strawser- doesn’t shy away from contact, internal drive to win games. Can play anywhere on the floor, excels with her dribble drive and her outside shot, rebounds and steals.
Riley Smith- continues to dominate scoring, rebounds and steals. Understands game situations, continues to grow as a skilled player. Can play anywhere on the floor. She also handles clutch situations very calmly.
Amber Ward- another workhorse, always in a gym. Shoots well from the perimeter. Works hard on defense, solid passer. Uncanny ability to see where the drive is and makes it happen. Creates her own offense.
Caroline Stupp- like a mini-coach, floor general with a good basketball IQ and a competitive spirit. Can shoot the three, get to the rim and is creative. Sees things that others don’t see. Intimate knowledge of the game. Defense is her claim to fame.
Kylie Wells- Good coachable kid, true competitor. Quiet force around the basket, can finish at the rim and get to the free throw line. Uses her body well in the paint. Another solid defender, knows how to force bad passes with pressure on defense. Fundamentally sound. One to watch right now.
Selena Frost- most athletic kid in this group, can play point guard but is comfortable as shooting guard. Outstanding perimeter shooter, strong skill set with good handles. Most fundamental shooter on this team.
Abigail Garcia- true competitor, former soccer player now focusing on basketball. Quiet force on the court, quick change of direction and can get to the free throw line. Uses her offensive moves in the paint, and can knock down outside shots.
