Pre-Live Access Session 1 Standouts, pt 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There is always excitement surrounding the Live Periods, but last weekend in Eastern Tennessee brought a different level of energy. High-level talent filled the gyms, college coaches lined the sidelines, and players competed with intensity every possession. Events like this continue to prove just how much girls basketball is growing in our region.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Event coordinator Blake Derrick deserves major credit for building something special. His focus has never simply been on running tournaments,it is about creating opportunities. While many events focus only on the highest levels, Derrick continues to provide exposure for athletes and programs across the board, especially helping connect players with D2, NAIA, and smaller college programs that are constantly searching for tough, skilled competitors. The All-Conference combo guard impacts the game in multiple ways every time she steps on the floor. She attacks downhill with confidence, finishes through contact, and keeps defenses honest with her ability to knock down the three. In transition, she pushes the pace and creates offense quickly, while defensively she competes hard every possession. The quick, athletic guard defended multiple positions effectively and made life difficult for opposing ball handlers. Offensively, she excelled at pushing the tempo and attacking the basket, getting downhill with ease and finishing plays in traffic. The point guard competes at a high level every possession and plays far bigger than her size because of her toughness and motor. She defended a Division I level player extremely well and embraced every challenge thrown her way. Her energy level stood out throughout the weekend, and she consistently stepped up in key moments when her team needed someone to make plays. She is absolutely lethal from behind the arc and has a basketball IQ that jumps out immediately when watching her play. Defensively, she competes hard on the ball and understands positioning at a high level for her age. What was especially impressive this weekend was the development in her offensive game attacking off the bounce and getting her feet into the paint. She consistently got to the rim at will and created pressure on defenses every trip down the floor. When she finds rhythm from deep, she can heat up quickly from three-point range as well. Defensively, she plays with a nonstop motor and turns into a pest on the ball, making opposing guards uncomfortable all game long.
