Last week, before the scholastic live period, I attended a three-day camp, put on by Travis Diener, that included around 70 talented incoming freshmen from Wisconsin. I spent most of the three days learning about some of the 2030s before they get to high school in the fall, and taking notes on most of the players there. I didn't end up getting notes on every player, but we will look at some of the players who stood out from the three-day event in Mequon and what they bring to the floor.

The future Sun Prairie West forward stood out as one of the largest players in the gym, but there was a lot to like about her game. One thing you see, even with the most talented post players, is that they bring the ball down to their waist, which allows smaller defenders to make a play on the ball. Buckley never does that. I thought she was impressive around the basket, and has a chance to be a productive post player early in her high school career, and could develop more than you'd expect because post players tend to come along a little slower. I really liked her game.

Just from seeing her in person, I'd be stunned if she wasn't also a talented volleyball player, but she was one of the more versatile players in the gym in Mequon. Schmitz has the size and skill to create mismatches and can handle the ball. The future Ozaukee player could be someone who helps take that program to another level in her four years there.

The future Sun Prairie West guard has room to grow throughout her four years of high school. She showed flashes of talent on the ball and had plenty of poise with the ball in her hands. I thought she took direction well and was a coachable player. She also plays at her own pace and doesn't let herself be rushed. She could end up being a game-changer at some point in her high school career.

The future Pewaukee Pirate had a nice few days with Pewaukee to end the week at Summer Slam, and had a solid three days at camp. Johnsen is a skilled guard who can handle the ball under pressure and create on the ball. I thought she played under control and changed pace well. I also think she should be a solid shooter right away. However, as she matures and gets stronger, she could develop into an excellent perimeter shooter over the next few years.
