Players to Watch:
Ashley Sawicki
Sawicki is just scratching the surface. She’s an incredibly talented post player with an extremely high basketball IQ. She is mature and patient on both ends of the floor. Her defensive skill is super fun to watch as her team can certainly count on her for multiple steals and blocked shots per matchup. Her movements on both ends of the floor are smooth and calm. The LIR standout is comfortable in transition as well and gets up and down very well. With such a high upside to her game, Sawicki is a player to help bring this team success this summer. Sawicki does a great job of using her strength inside to finish strong over smaller defenders or through contact. She does most of her work in the paint but has improved her jumper and has become more confident with the ball in her hands on the perimeter.
Avery Poole
A solid offensive player for her team is Poole. She will contribute many things for this squad and is talented on both ends of the floor. On offense, she brings a crafty jumper and perimeter shot that makes her so effective. Her ability to drive to the rim is impressive as well, rarely shaken by bigger defenders waiting in the lane. She is the floor general for this squad and excels at getting her teammates involved on both ends of the court. She is phenomenal at exploding out of the triple threat position and beginning her downhill drive. She is also great at using her off arm to create space, but not commit an offensive foul. Poole is also improving her pivot footwork and creating more moves when she enters the lane. On defense, she is scrappy with great awareness for deflecting passes and grabbing steals.
Mallory Lindsey
The Mineral Point standout brings great facilitating and scoring to this squad. After averaging 9 points per game during her high school season, Lindsey brings high energy to this Let It Rain team. She’s an exceptional three point shooter and has so much confidence beyond the arc. She has a very elite scoring ability and will continue to improve this summer. She can score from all three levels and her quick first step allows her to burst past defenders. A natural fade in her shot form also allows Lindsey to create space as well, defenders have a hard time stopping her perimeter and pull up shot.
Kate Huml
Huml averaged 13.2 points per game for her Janesville Craig team last season. She has an impressive attack to the lane and is composed when going against taller defenders. She’s patient, never forcing a shot and always being aware of the defender. Not only is she effective at scoring, she adds passing to her resume and does it very well. Her passing ability may go unnoticed as she brings so much to the table in other areas, however look out for her to bring crafty passing and facilitating to this squad. Huml also has super quick footwork which often catches her defenders off guard when she attacks the lane. Huml also has a smooth stutter step that teams should look out for.
