The Expo: DMV Ready to Run

Transition play created plenty of opportunities for players to separate themselves at The Expo. Getting out ahead of the ball, filling lanes, and quickly turning defense into offense allowed this group to capitalize before opposing defenses could get set. These 5 players stood out with their willingness to run the floor and make things happen in the open court.

Sanders ran the floor with purpose, getting ahead of the ball and finding her spots to become a scoring option in transition. She showed a strong take to the basket for an easy layup and continued to put herself in position to score by beating defenders down the floor. She can also stretch the defense from the perimeter with her ability to knock down the three.

Napoleoni made an impact by working the glass and quickly transitioning to the offensive end. She secured a rebound and showed a nice touch on a jumper inside, giving her another way to contribute around the paint. She also ran the floor hard, getting ahead of the defense to receive the ball for a fast-break layup.

White's length and athleticism stood out in transition, as she flew past defenders for a fast-break finish and used her reach to extend around the basket. She also had a tough one-handed finish on the left side while bringing plenty of activity defensively through communication, traps, and aggressive play. She brought energy to the court and also displayed strong sportsmanship by helping players up regardless of which team they were on.

Akinyemi was active on both ends, ready to help turn defensive possessions into offense. She used her hands to secure the ball and push in transition, but also showed an unselfish approach by finding a teammate rather than forcing her own shot. She moved well without the ball too, making a good cut that put her in position to finish a layup.

Kistner hustled up the floor and showed that she was ready to turn defensive plays into transition opportunities. She boxed out well defensively, secured rebounds, and used active hands to come away with a steal before pushing the ball herself. She also contributed around the basket with a smooth layup and an offensive rebound that she converted for a putback.
