PGH Expo: Team 8 Evaluations

More than 100 prospects took the court at The 2026 Expo, competing in front of PGH scouts and college coaches from the D2, D3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO levels. The four-hour showcase featured predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups, giving players the chance to display their skill sets in different settings throughout the day. Along with the competition on the court, every player in attendance receives post-event coverage, social media exposure, and evaluations from the Prep Girls Hoops staff. The showcase also gave players the opportunity to compete with talented players from across the state while being coached by different college coaches. My coverage focused on Teams 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, and 9, and Team 8 gave me plenty to take away from the day. Here is a closer look at the players I watched on Team 8 at The Expo:    Amanda, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, showed a nice combination of perimeter scoring and playmaking. She got into a rhythm from behind the arc by knocking down back-to-back threes, with the second coming on a smooth step-back that created the separation she needed to get her shot off. Amanda also showed good awareness as a facilitator, attacking off the dribble, drawing multiple defenders, and making the right read with a drive-and-kick to an open teammate. Her passing was impressive throughout her time on the floor, as she saw openings develop and delivered several well-placed passes to create opportunities for her teammates.     Kaylee, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day and put together an impressive showing against some of the best competition in the gym. During 3v3 play, she flashed her athleticism defensively by timing up a block, and that defensive impact continued into 5v5 with several more blocked shots. Offensively, Kaylee was difficult to contain with the ball in her hands. She has a tight handle, plays with plenty of shiftiness, and uses a quick, twitchy change of direction to get past defenders and attack downhill. What impressed me just as much was her ability to create for others. Kaylee consistently played with her head up, showed excellent court vision, and delivered quality passes as the defense shifted, including an impressive no-look pass that put her teammate in position to make a play. She went head-to-head with some of the top players in attendance and showed throughout the day that she belongs in that conversation as well.     Adalyn, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day with the scoring and playmaking ability she showed with the ball in her hands. She has a strong handle and looked comfortable creating off the dribble, using her control and change of direction to work her way through the defense. One of her more impressive moves came in the lane, where she used a smooth spin move to get away from her defender and create a scoring opportunity around the basket. Adalyn also showed she could stretch the floor, knocking down shots from behind the arc and giving the defense another area to account for. On the defensive end, she came away with a steal and immediately turned it into offense, taking the ball coast-to-coast. Her ability to create off the bounce, score from the perimeter, and make plays in transition helped make her one of my top performers at The Expo.     Lauren, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, was one of my top performers on the day and consistently made her presence felt on both ends. The long, athletic guard showed her versatility as a scorer, knocking down multiple shots from behind the arc while also attacking the basket and converting multiple and-ones through contact. One of her more impressive finishes came after she ripped baseline past her defender and used her athleticism and body control to finish with a reverse layup. Lauren was just as impactful defensively, where her anticipation allowed her to read passes, jump passing lanes, and come away with steals. She also ran the floor hard in transition, putting pressure on the defense by getting out quickly and filling lanes. Her ability to score from the perimeter, attack and finish at the rim, and create turnovers defensively made her one of the more impactful two-way players I watched at The Expo.     Kyrstin, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, is an intriguing prospect because of the inside-out presence she brings to the floor. During 3v3 action, she made her presence felt defensively around the basket, using her length and timing to come away with multiple blocks. She also rebounded well throughout the day, competing on the glass and securing boards on both ends. In 5v5 play, Kyrstin showed another layer to her game after pulling down defensive rebounds. Instead of immediately looking for an outlet, she showed she is comfortable putting the ball on the floor and leading the break herself, pushing into transition and giving her team another way to initiate offense. That combination of rebounding, rim protection, and the ability to handle the ball in the open floor makes her an interesting player to continue watching.     Jeahna, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, showed the ability to impact the game on both ends while scoring from multiple areas of the floor. She attacked well off the dribble and got downhill, putting pressure on defenders by getting into the lane. Jeahna also showed her perimeter touch by knocking down a three and added a mid-range jumper to give her another scoring option. One of her better finishes came when she ripped baseline past her defender and used the inside hand to finish at the rim, helping protect the ball from the defense. On the other end, Jeahna showed her defensive timing and ability to contest away from the basket with an impressive perimeter block.     Talia, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, showed several different ways she can create offense around the basket. During 3v3 action, she attacked the rim and showed good strength and control by finishing through contact. In 5v5 play, Talia used a strong rip from the top of the key to get by her defender and all the way to the rim for a bucket. She also showed touch in the lane with a well-placed floater. Talia found another scoring opportunity by working without the ball, sealing her defender to establish position and converting once she received the pass. Defensively, she anticipated a pass, jumped the passing lane, and came away with a steal.     Kylee, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, was a productive presence around the paint while also showing some versatility off the dribble. The post player showed she could attack from the perimeter, using a strong baseline rip to get past her defender and make her way toward the basket. Kylee competed well on the glass throughout the day, putting herself in position to secure rebounds and create additional opportunities for her team. Her work on the offensive boards was especially valuable, as she turned multiple rebounds into putbacks around the rim     Teagan, playing on Team 8 at The Expo, showed a versatile skill set and found different ways to impact the game throughout the day. During 3v3 action, she knocked down a three from the wing and showed good awareness as a passer, attacking the lane before finding a teammate when the defense collapsed. She also worked to seal her defender, established good position, and converted around the basket. Defensively, Teagan protected the rim with multiple blocks. In 5v5 play, she showed her ability to turn defense into offense, taking a defensive rebound coast-to-coast and putting immediate pressure on the defense. Her passing continued to show up, as did her shot-blocking ability. On one impressive sequence, Teagan blocked a shot, secured the rebound herself, and immediately pushed the pace in transition with her head up looking to make the next play.
