Underclassmen to Keep an Eye on

The high school season is right around the corner, and there are plenty of young names ready to make some noise. This group of freshmen and sophomores has already caught my eye, and I'm expecting their stock to rise as they settle into bigger roles this season. Don't be surprised if several of these names become much more familiar by the end of the season.

High-level perimeter shooter who consistently gets her feet and shoulders squared before the catch. Compact release with good balance and range beyond the arc. Moves well off the ball to find open windows and is a threat in catch-and-shoot situations.

Quick first step allows her to beat defenders off the bounce and attack gaps before they close. Has a knack for finding cracks in the defense and turning them into scoring opportunities. Puts points on the board in a hurry when she gets downhill.

Impact is felt all over the half court with the way she plays with power and purpose. Immediately looks to attack the basket, using her strength to power through defenders and finish through contact. Plays downhill and puts constant pressure on the defense.

A true glue player who found ways to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She consistently hustled after loose balls, crashed the glass for rebounds, and kept the ball moving rather than letting it stick in her hands. Played with her head up and showed good awareness of where her teammates were on the floor. Defensively, she took on the challenge of guarding one of the strongest offensive players at the event and made her work for every touch and scoring opportunity.

Active inside and out, she stays involved in the action and brings value even when the ball isn't in her hands. Makes timely cuts, cuts hard with purpose, and uses her lift well to get shots off over defenders around the basket. Consistently sets solid screens and quickly gets back into the action instead of standing after contact. Her activity level and willingness to do the little things made her presence felt throughout the game.
