Williams has a couple of Tip Sheets written by me and a couple from @playerrimedies; see evaluations here, and as I have mentioned several times, when you’re able to use things from another era, like “hands and footwork” to score, that should be high on the teachable list, especially when you factor in size. Yeah, she hit the boards on both ends, did a good job defensively, but her scoring off the dribble and from outside, not to mention “seeing the floor” will have her climbing the charts over her career
Active inside and out, she stays involved in the action and brings value even when the ball isn’t in her hands. Makes timely cuts, cuts hard with purpose, and uses her lift well to get shots off over defenders around the basket. Consistently sets solid screens and quickly gets back into the action instead of standing after contact. Her activity level and willingness to do the little things made her presence felt throughout the game.
Williams gave me a glimpse of what was coming a year ago. @playerrimedies caught up with her a few months ago, and she will hit the charts on the next update; see evaluations here yet; her versatility in playing multiple positions is going to create some issues. She’s just under “the magic number” and is “long and athletic,” but seeing her scoring inside the paint using the “hands and footwork” I love to see was one thing; her “catch and shoot” from outside and scoring off the dribble was another. Factor in her court vision, both in the set as well as in transition, was nice
Williams impacts the game from the inside and out on both ends of the floor. Defensively, she has the versatility to switch onto smaller guards and hold her own with her mobility and length. Offensively, that same versatility shows through her ability to stretch the floor with perimeter shooting while also attacking gaps and slashing to the basket, using her length effectively around the rim.
Williams plays strong around the basket as she hits the boards on both ends and scores around the basket, putbacks included. She also does a good job defending both in and outside the paint. She plays the passing lane and can score, not only off the dribble but from outside as well, catch and shoot included
