The confidence Hoffman displayed in year one was not like most freshmen. And I believe it's because of her defensive abilities. Most players are timid on the offensive side of the ball in their first year, and though she can impact the game on that end as well, her defense and playmaking were something she could hang her hat on, and it's one thing every coach needs on the floor. Heading into this year, her offensive game will be a huge key to how competitive her high school program is, and as she gets even more comfortable in her varsity role, those big moments will start to turn into consistency.

Hell of a playmaker… and when you add in how much energy she plays with, she doesn't even have to score to be a main threat to the defense. Her IQ alone is well beyond what most players show at this age, and we can point to her confidence as part of why she's been successful. She's not really rattled by double teams or on ball pressure. Giles has versatility that lets her be an impact player on both ends, and last year we got glimpses of that here and there. Coming into this year, consistency will play a major role in how her skill set will keep her team competitive. Even when the ball isn't in her hands, she can make things happen for her teammates by staying in constant motion and, defensively, staying aware of movement around her. She is an offensive threat, and as that part of her game expands, which I believe it will this upcoming season, we could see her potential start to take form.
