The Eagles of Mcdonogh bring back a stellar cast that came within one game of a championship appearance. They played Pallotti down to the wire in two exciting games and managed to knock off champion St. Frances last season. Here is a look at what Coach Brad Rees’ rotation might look like.
Jayla Oden Jayla Oden 5'6" | PG McDonogh | 2021 State MD , Point Guard, 2021
Jayla will spend her senior season trying to claim the top dog status and turn in a player of the year worthy campaign. With Angel Reese Angel Reese 6'3" | SF St. Francis Academy | 2020 State MD , Eniya Russell Eniya Russell 5'11" | PG Institute of Notre Dame | 2020 State MD and Mir McLean Mir McLean 5'11" | SF Roland Park | 2020 State MD out of the league, that space is wide open. Jayla commited to Illinois over the summer so she can focus strictly on her on court performance. Jayla can score with the best of them but has also shown that she run a team.
Nekhu Mitchell Nekhu Mitchell 6'0" | SF McDonogh | 2022 State MD , Wing, 2022
Nekhu racked up some more division one offers over the summer even without the benefit of a full circuit. She is a smooth six footer that finishes well with both hands around the basket and can step out to the three point line as well. Her mid range game is emerging and she is a strong rebounder. High mid majors and power fives are in pursuit.
Paris Locke Paris Locke 5'11" | SF McDonogh | 2023 State MD , Wing, 2023
Paris is a versatile guard/wing with a strong grasp of the game. She has a very reliable corner three point shot and can also get buckets from the mid range and in the post. She is a good defender and should be a huge contributor this season.
Makaela Quimby Makaela Quimby 5'9" | SG McDonogh | 2023 State MD , Guard, 2023
Last year’s rookie of the year should be even better this season with such an impressive first season under her belt. She plays with a calm demeanor no matter what the situation is and was not afraid to take big shots in the clutch. She has good size for a guard at 5’9″ and is a deadly outside shooter. Her mid range pull up game is lethal and she’s not afraid to use it. Several D1 schools are on her trail.
Anaiah Jenkins Anaiah Jenkins 6'0" | PF McDonogh | 2023 State MD , Center, 2023
Ms. Jenkins looked phenomenal over the shortened summer. She got bigger and looks more explosive. She is well over six feet and solidly built. She has good footwork and finishes well in traffic where she likes to dish out punishment. She should have a big season.
Tatum Greene, Guard, 2024
Tatum is highly recruited and hasn’t even played a high school game yet. She’s 6’2″ and has deep three point range. She’s a dangerous slasher and can make shots with both hands. She moves well without the ball, is a solid passer and lets the game come to her. She’ll jump right into the rotation.
Delaney Yarborough Delaney Yarborough 6'3" | PF McDonogh | 2022 State MD , Center, 2022
Delaney is a legit post presence at 6’3″ and she is a terror on the boards. She draws a lot of fouls due to her physical play in the paint and will provide strong minutes for the Eagles this season.
Kennedy Umeh, Forward, 2024
Another 6’2″ athlete with great length and size that Coach Rees has in his arsenal. She will get some minutes because she has great hands and footwork and a strong IQ.
