Below is a list of underclassmen who have been showing confidence and growth on the floor. Each one of these players have proven they will be able to step up and contribute big minutes on the varsity level. Take a look at these spotlight players who are catching eyes pre-season.
Taylor Stremlow Taylor Stremlow 5'8" | PG Verona | 2024 State WI | Flight Elite | 2024 | Verona | 5’8 G
Stremlow is a super versatile guard who is already turning heads with her talent. A two-way prospect who can impact at so many different spots, Stremlow is going to be tough to stop at the varsity level. She has a great skill set and length for her position. Her mental fortitude and toughness is absolutely already there; she’s confident and composed on the floor. She can shoot from almost anywhere on the floor and has a smooth release to her jumper.
Reagan Briggs Reagan Briggs 5'9" | SG Verona | 2024 State WI | Flight Elite | 2024 | Verona | 5’9 CG
Briggs is a special guard who has so many skills in her bag. Her ability to get to the rim and finish against contact makes her super tough to defend. Her footwork on offensive helps her to create a game for herself. Her handles are elite and she can play each spot on the perimeter effectively for her team. She has a high IQ for the game and has a tremendous shot selection. She understands her angles to attack as well as to find her teammates open cutting to the basket. She’s added a beautiful jump shot this summer and is confident knocking it down from almost anywhere on the floor.
Ava Collier- White | WI Playground | 2024 | The Prairie School | 5’4 PG
Collier-White is a skilled point guard with loads of upside. She is smart with the ball and doesn’t force much on either end of the floor. I’m impressed by her basketball IQ so early on and being able to really run the offense with confidence. She can shoot the ball as well and knows when to make the big play. Her ability to get to the lane and finish with both hands is impressive. She’s continuing to develop her defensive movements but has shown glimpses of being an elite on ball defender.
Nevaeh Quinn | WI Blaze | 2023 | Menasha | 5’6 PG
Quinn is a mature athlete that possesses great understanding for the game very early on. She has great footwork and speed for a point guard and really understands her role. She moves well with the basketball and seems to take pride in leading the offense. She is a floor general with fantastic court vision- often threading the needle or making the highlight reel pass. She can create a game for herself too, she finishes strong against contact and has an impressive floater in her bag. She is very mature on the court; she’s smart and interacts with the game like a veteran. Quinn will transition very nicely to being the lead point guard for her Menasha squad.
Katie Waukau | WI Purple Aces | 2023 | West De Pere | 5’6 PG
Waukau is a super impressive guard who will see a lot of interest early on. She’s a pure competitor who gives her all every second on the floor. I’m beyond impressed by her ability to survey the floor and make the smart play. She finds her open teammates with ease and takes smart chances that result in points for her team. She has a great motor on the floor and can get up and down while pressuring the entire game. She’s a big time shooter with a soft release. She can create the shot for herself but also excels off the pass.
Sarah Aleknavicius Sarah Aleknavicius 5'11" | CG Grafton | 2024 State WI | Chapman Basketball Academy | 2024 | Grafton | 5’9 CG
Aleknavicius is a smooth guard with a physical frame that can fill a stat sheet. She is versatile with incredible potential. She possessed the ideal size and length of a combo guard, and her length bodes well for her overall versatility on both sides of the ball. She has a great burst of speed when attacking the basket. She uses jabs well and is crafty with her handles. Her shot creation skills on the perimeter and in the lane are impressive as well. She has the ability to size up defenders and attack or rise up for the shot- and she is confident doing so.
