Expert Analysis
Jason Green | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Despite an injury setback, Hannah will still attend South Dakota following her senior season. Once she arrives in Vermillion, the Coyotes will have an outstanding player on their hands who really can do it all. Hannah is a tall, strong player who works hard on the boards and can defend just about anybody down low in the paint. As is the trend in basketball these days, Coons is most definitely not relegated to “just” being a post player. She has a tremendous jump shot and can absolutely shoot the lights out. Prior to her injury, Hannah showed great footwork on the defensive end, to go along with outstanding speed and quickness. I have no doubt she will return to the same high level in time to be a difference-maker for South Dakota.

Hannah is versatile post player with unlimited potential. She flows on the court with an aggressive mindset – playing strong in the paint and finishing through contact. She can stretch the floor with her shooting ability from deep and can put the ball on the floor and attack open gaps with the best of them. She finished the season averaging over 20+ points a game and led her team to the semi-finals of 3A State Tournament. Hannah is a special player that continues to grow her game everyday.

Long Forward with a lot of skills. She is a presence at the rim on defense and protects it well. She has a strong mid-range game – at the free-throw-line and elbow and controls space well, attacks strong off the dribble and does a good job drawing the foul and is a great free-throw shooter. Shot blocker, strong rebounder, and will push the ball in the open break. She is a competitor and looked comfortable in every position on the court: Off the dribble, posting up in the paint, and on defense. Solid player, that requires a double team or even triple team. She handles that type of pressure like I have never seen before. She stayed patient and kept working.

Standing at 6-feet 1-inches, Hannah is a player I have followed and knew of since she was in middle school. Her size stands out immediately but what she does with her size makes her a player that you must respect. She can play on the perimeter by shooting the outside shot or putting the ball on the floor and muscle her way to the basket. Hannah is at her best with she uses her body and works on the block. I think she is still learning it but once she figures it out, she will be unstoppable. She is talented and I look to catch her in more games this coming year at Kiefer High school and with her new AAU team, Oklahoma Swift.
