The Top-5 is almost entirely committed, apart from No.1-ranked Caya Smith Caya Smith 6'2" | SF Putnam City West | 2024 State OK , but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to be talked about. So, with no further ado, here we go.
Caya is a high level D-I player and our number one player in the class of 2024. The state long jump champion will most likely dunk in a game this season, as she has attempted it before and almost tore the roof off the building, while just missing. She has added a three-pointer to her arsenal over the years and now scores consistently from every level. She is a defensive wizard who can guard any position and does a tremendous job of diagnosing the play and stepping into passing lanes. She holds A LOT of D-I offers and if you’re a college coach serious about winning, I’m not sure why you haven’t offered her yet. She is a star and will continue to be at the next level. She is the best senior basketball player in the state of Oklahoma. Period.
Jill Twiehaus Jill Twiehaus 5’10” | SG Jenks | 2024 State OK is one of the most athletic players in the class of 2024 and is an incredible prospect. A lot of what we do with the rankings, as you can read here, is project players even after high school. Jill is a player who has improved an unbelievable amount since her freshman year and considering the trajectory that she’s been on, could become an absolute superstar at Rice. She has the work ethic, natural athletic ability, and the “want.” She is dedicated on the defensive end and can score from pretty much anywhere. Twiehaus is one of a kind in the class of 2024.
Another player whose stock really rose over the last year or so, Allison recently committed to the Creighton Bluejays of the Big East. Previously ranked as low as No. 12, she was initially thought to be a Division-II prospect. As her pure scoring ability began to catch up with her shooting and defensive abilities, the higher level offers began to come in and she was awash in D-I interest. In the end, she chose the Nebraska school and looks to be a great fit for Head Coach Jim Flanery’s perennial March Madness participating squad. Heathcock is a do it all player who is going to do very big things at the next level.
Zya Vann Zya Vann 5’9″ | PG Bethany | 2024 State OK continues the legacy of the Vann family in Oklahoma basketball and that legacy includes being highly ranked. It also usually includes attending Oklahoma, which is exactly what Zya will be doing after her senior season at Bethany. She is a fluid, fast guard with natural ballhandling ability. She scores from all levels and absolutely fills up the stat sheet by crashing the boards and doing a great job of distributing the ball. Vann plays phenomenal on-ball defense and relishes the one-on-one opportunity. She is a fun player to watch and in Coach Baranczyk’s offense, Zya Vann Zya Vann 5’9″ | PG Bethany | 2024 State OK is going to be an incredible asset!
Despite an injury setback, Hannah will still attend South Dakota following her senior season. Once she arrives in Vermillion, the Coyotes will have an outstanding player on their hands who really can do it all. Hannah is a tall, strong player who works hard on the boards and can defend just about anybody down low in the paint. As is the trend in basketball these days, Coons is most definitely not relegated to “just” being a post player. She has a tremendous jump shot and can absolutely shoot the lights out. Prior to her injury, Hannah showed great footwork on the defensive end, to go along with outstanding speed and quickness. I have no doubt she will return to the same high level in time to be a difference-maker for South Dakota.
