With the unique and unprecedented circumstances surrounding this season, it truly makes for one we haven’t seen before and it should make for some very exciting basketball to be played in the Garden State.
Prep Girls Hoops has been giving you the rundown on the best talent this state has to offer and that continues in this article as PGH profiles the top forwards in the Shore Conference, beginning in A Central.
Justine Pissott Justine Pissott 6'3" | SG Red Bank Catholic | 2022 State NJ , Red Bank: Pissott was one of the best outside shooters in the conference last season, making just under 2.5 three-pointers a game while she averaged 12.5 PPG for Red Bank. Now a junior, she’s one of the top returning scorers for Red Bank and is easily their best perimeter shooter. Pissott has the potential to average over three made threes a game during the 2021 season and somewhere north of 15-17.0 PPG a game.
Abigail Antognoli Abigail Antognoli 5'6" | PG St. Rose | 2021 State NJ , St. Rose: Antognoli is St. Rose’s leading returning scorer coming into 2021 and that is extremely vital for a program that lost over 1,000 points between two veteran senior guards who graduated in the spring. She averaged 10.8 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 3.6 APG, 2.5 SPG and over one made three a game. Her scoring averages will get a boost due to her leading the point for St. Rose in 2021 and the spotlight isn’t something she shys away from. The eyes and attention will be on Antognoli come January and she’s going to impress.
Julia Corsentino Julia Corsentino 5'9" | SG Rumson-Fair Haven | 2023 State NJ , Rumson-Fair Haven: Corsentino was a freshman standout for Rumson-Fair Haven in 2019/20, averaging just under 10.0 PPG, 2.3 made threes a game, just over 3.0 RPG, 1.0 APG and 1.0 SPG. She thrived from beyond the arc and will have much of the same role in 2020. Corsentino is about as good as it gets as a spot-up and transition shooter and she’s going to be one of the best shooting guards in the state in 2021 so watch out.
Brooke Hollawell Brooke Hollawell 5'6" | PG Manasquan | 2022 State NJ , Manasquan: Hollawell cemented her presence as the de-facto leader on this Manasquan team coming into 2021 after what she did in 2019/20. She averaged 13.3 PPG, the best of an elite junior class that is carrying this program. She also averaged 1.6 SPG and just under 1.9 made threes a game, something that will play come January. She’s going to shine beyond the arc and continue to be a dangerous perimeter shooter. Hollawell, while she might have the attention on her, is no stranger to defensive pressure and thrives in clutch situations, so she’s going to continue to lead Manasquan and dominate on the court.
Madison LaRosa, Shore: LaRosa has all the tools to be an elite guard and she showed out last season, averaging 14.2 PPG, 2.3 SPG and 1.8 made threes a game for Shore. She is entering her senior season in 2021 and has been one of the main keys to the success of this program, though there is a great young core coming up that people will see in greater length come January and beyond. LaRosa is a strong veteran presence on the Blue Devils and that hasn’t been more true than this season, where if Shore wants to improve on its 15-13 record in 2019/20, LaRosa just needs to continue to shoot threes efficiently and make them in bulk.
