Here is a look at a few players from Missouri that caught my eye on Saturday’s first day of competition.
JaNyla Bush JaNyla Bush 5'4" | PG Link Academy | 2024 State MO 5’5 Lady BBE 2024: An elite young point guard from Cardinal Ritter who put in a show in the afternoon game I watched with her scoring, passing and overall floor game. She had the 3-pointer working while also getting everyone involved with some nice dimes.
Ally Fitzgerald 6’3” BlueStar St. Louis 17U: A 2022 forward from Marquette who was impressive with her activity and athleticism around the basket. She rebounded well out of her area and also blocked shots with her length.
Raychel Jones Raychel Jones 5'10" | CG Vashon | 2023 State MO 5’10 Midwest United 3SSB 16U: A talented 2023 guard from Vashon who can really score, but I was impressed with her playmaking abilities on this day. She was setting up her teammates for easy scoring opportunities with her passing. Her versatile skill set enables her excel at multiple positions on offense.
Breona Hurd Breona Hurd 6'2" | PF Waynesville | 2024 State MO 6’1 Kingdom Hoops 15U: It was my first time watching this talented 2024 forward from Waynesville in person and I was not disappointed. She is a matchup nightmare with the size and strength to dominate in the post and the ability to handle the ball, drive and hit 3-pointers. Very impressive talent.
Katie Baumgartner 5’10” Midwest United 3SSB 17U: The 2022 forward from Marquette has a knack for being around the ball and in the right place to make a play. That’s not by accident. She moves without the ball, gets to the offensive glass and is very productive without having plays run for her.
