Baltimore has always been a hotbed for strong guard play. This class might not produce many Power 5 players but there are several talented and tough guards that can be contributors at the next level. In the second half of July coaches should check out these prospects. They are all good players and strong academically.
Cydney Curtis, 5’7" Point Guard, Team Melo
Cydney has developed into a very capable point guard that can slide over to shooting guard as well. She's a good ball handler and can knock down threes. She always defends the best perimeter player on the other team. Solid on ball defender and tough competitor.
[player_tooltip player_id="137244" first="Tsion" last="Smith"], 5’8 Guard, Team Melo
Tsion is another solid defender with a sweet stroke on her long range shot. She is a versatile guard/wing that will battle with bigger players in the paint, and moves her feet well enough to lock up guards in space.
[player_tooltip player_id="137256" first="Destiny" last="Holmes"], 5'6" Guard, Team Melo
Destiny is one of the fastest guards in the area with the ball. She is very effective in transition and attacks the rim relentlessly. She is physically strong and her corner three ball is money.
[player_tooltip player_id="137241" first="Amayah" last="Frazier"],5'6" Point Guard, Power Move
Amayah is back from a torn ACL and has had a good summer. She is an excellent defender and has held her own against top competition. Her jumper has been money all summer and as her confidence in her leg grows I'm betting on her returning to form on her drives to the hoop. She is a high IQ facilitator and knows how to run a team.
[player_tooltip player_id="137265" first="Jala" last="Bannerman"] 5'7" Guard, Team Thrill
Jala is a high energy and scrappy guard that plays with tremendous pace. A very explosive athlete that can get into the paint at will. She competes on every possession and strap up full court on defense.
[player_tooltip player_id="137242" first="Daimoni" last="Dorsey"] Team Thrill
Daimoni is a tough and strong guard/wing that brings strong perimeter defense and competitiveness to the game. She is a capable three point shooter that can get really hot at times. You can catch her on the UA circuit.
[player_tooltip player_id="137226" first="Madison" last="Nimmo"], 5'4" Guard, Maryland Belles
Scoring guard that can get buckets from all three levels. Maddie can also run some point guard as well. She is a good passer and play maker that is capable of taking over a game on offense.
[player_tooltip player_id="137217" first="Myah" last="Simmons"], 5"7" Guard, Maryland Belles
Pass first point guard and facilitator with long range on her shot. She can score if needed and she is a solid on ball defender and a clutch free throw shooter. Nice mid range game as well helps her keep defenses honest.
