The month of June is filled with team camps all across the state. Girls are in the gym getting bigger, stronger, and faster, as they build up their team chemistry. Though the records may not matter as much at camps, bragging rights and playing time are on the line as they show coaches all the hard work they have put in throughout the months of April and May. In addition to bonding with their teammates, girls are working on their craft and implementing new skill sets that they will showcase during the July NCAA live period, and carry that momentum into their fall workouts. Though this may be the “offseason” on paper, when you are a hooper, there is no offseason. You have to constantly keep getting better one day at a time. Someone is always looking to take your spot or make a name for themselves. When you aren’t with your team, that’s when you have to self-examine who you are. How much do you want it? How much hard work does it take? Do you want to be elite? Do you want to be an All-American? Your attitude in how you approach your game will determine your aptitude and how high your game will go. PGH Tennessee wants to recognize some young ladies who have been putting that time in the gym. This isn’t to knock anyone, because everyone has been doing some great stuff through the month of June. Here are just some young ladies who have does some notable things that have created a buzz around the state of Tennessee. [player_tooltip player_id="245351" first="Jaloni" last="Cambridge"] (5’6, PG, Ensworth)- One of the best point guards in the country, this rising sophomore earned her way and became one of twelve young ladies to represent Team USA U16s. Jaloni isn’t just the best PG in her 2024 class in the state, but perhaps the best PG in the state. Her athletic ability is second to none as she has received many offers from multiple Power 5 schools. [player_tooltip player_id="245281" first="Cori" last="Allen"] (5’10, CG, Montverde Academy)- The former Hillsboro standout will be transferring to Montverde Academy to finish out her high school career. Cori was invited to participate in the Team USA U17 camp. Though she may be transferring out of the state, this young lady is a homegrown product of Tennessee. She is big, strong, fast, and knows how to exploit defenses to get to the cup. She has a high basketball IQ, which enables her to use her athletic ability on both ends of the floor. Even though she won’t be in TN come this fall, she will still go down as one of the best in her class. [player_tooltip player_id="245355" first="Sydney" last="Mains"] (5’11/ SF Knoxville Catholic)- Without a question, one of the next best up and coming stars of the 2024 class. She continues to have very impressive outings every time she steps on the floor. She has a little bounce in her step as she can pull up from anyone on the floor or use her quick foot speed to get to the rim. Her mid-range game is impressive as well. Keep an eye on this young lady as Power 5 schools will be knocking on her door sooner rather than later. [player_tooltip player_id="245214" first="Tamia" last="Scott"] (5’11, SF, Clarksville)- Tough and strong, this girl continues to trend on an upwards trajectory. Blessed with size and impressive skills, Tamia can score at will. From unleashing a mid-range game to working in the painted area, this girl is a bucket for sure. Defensively, she is an anchor in the painted area. Her ability to deter shot from going in makes her one of the best defensive players in the state. Look for her to receive even more offers as she suits up during the July live periods. Keep an eye on these girls……. [player_tooltip player_id="245224" first="Zyion" last="Shannon"] (5’7/CG/ Stewarts Creek)- Has had an impressive travel ball campaign thus far. This young lady is a fierce competitor who has a little swag to her game. From making dime-dropping passes to finishing at the rim, she is always in attack mode on both ends of the floor. Zyion is a true warrior who possesses an impressive touch from beyond the arc. She also has a quick first step where she can unleash her floater game or get to the rim. Defensively, she is a heady player who has a knack of getting her hands on the ball. Look for her to grab some D1 offers throughout the July live period. [player_tooltip player_id="245262" first="Syler" last="Falcon"] (6’2/C/ Bradley Central)- After missing her entire sophomore season due to back surgery, Syler is healthy and ready to show the basketball world she is back better than ever. She is killing it thus far in travel ball, almost averaging a double-double in both points and rebounds. One of the best true posts in the state, look for her to turn some heads as she gets back to form playing at a high level. [player_tooltip player_id="245240" first="Terryauna" last="Griffin"] (5’8/ CG/ South Doyle)- She is a bucket filler. Can score multiple ways from the field. You name it, she can do it. Blessed with athletic ability beyond anyone’s imagination, once this girl harnesses her skills, she will be a can’t miss prospect for sure. This is her first year on the circuit, but you better believe she will receive some attention from coaches as she suits up for the Flight Select club in July.
