September is a very busy month in Ohio. Several key events will be held for players trying to showcase their skills in front of scouts and coaches. The first big event is this coming Sunday, Sept. 12 when the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo comes to Ohio. Complete coverage from that event is coming soon. It will be a great way to showcase your skills for the November ranking update. Prior to that event, we will be taking a look at some of the top prospects from around Ohio broken down by district. These will be based on the recent 2022, 2023 and 2024 PGH class rankings that were updated last month. First a look at some of the top players from Southwest Ohio who were ranked high and will be key players to watch from that region. Also coming this week, Northwest Ohio, Northeast Ohio, a combination of Southeast/East Ohio and Angie Saiter will look at Central Ohio. Southwest Ohio Key Prospects [player_tooltip player_id="32600" first="KK" last="Bransford"], 5-11 2022, Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame The top player in Ohio in her class, KK is expected to be a consensus All-American as a senior. She is the reigning Ohio Ms. Basketball and has put together a great summer. She is so explosive and at the top of her game right now. Led her team to the state title last season and is uncommitted. The #1 2022 in the PGH rankings. (feature photo above) [player_tooltip player_id="32611" first="Cotie" last="McMahon"], 5-11 2022, Centerville The Ohio State verbal commit is ready to shine again this season. She has one of the most complete games in Ohio, can hurt you both outside with a deep range perimeter game, or she will get past you to the rim and score. Can play physical and uses her body to control the paint if needed. Great rebounder and can fly in transition. She is ranked #2 in the PGH ranking. [player_tooltip player_id="32606" first="Chance" last="Gray"], 5-9 2022, Cincinnati Winton Woods She finishes her travel ball career with another great summer for Sports City U, and is currently ranked #3 in the 2022 class by PGH. Chance can literally do it all. Her growth in the game began with her father Carlton and she has expanded all aspects of her game. She can score from anywhere, has great range and incredible court sense. Taking her talent to Oregon but has her eye on a state tourney run with Winton Woods this winter. [player_tooltip player_id="32617" first="Kyla" last="Oldacre"], 6-5 2022, Mason She has settled into her new home and continues to show why she is the best pure post player in SW Ohio. She is an imposing figure in the paint both on the offensive and defensive end of the floor. Can alter and block shots who those who dare enter the paint. Really like her game that has grown and she can hurt you in many ways. Runs the floor well and able to use either hand around the rim. Currently sits #7 in the class throughout Ohio. Major D1 looks. (pictured left) [player_tooltip player_id="32622" first="Macie" last="Taylor"], 5-7 2022, Troy Ready for her final year with the Trojans. Macie (pictured right) is ranked #10 on the latest 2022 list, and has the game to back it up. Very creative player, has the ability to score in a variety of ways. She has a deadly perimeter shot beyond the arc, and can put the ball on the floor and make things happen. Very good pull-up midrange shot, can rip past her opponent and score in the paint with either hand. Hard worker, leaves it on the floor. Uncommitted as of now. [player_tooltip player_id="92539" first="Hailey" last="Unger"], 5-7 2022, Arcanum The first-team all-Ohio kid from Darke County is still uncommitted, and ranked #11 in the latest ’22 PGH ranking. She earned the praise of those who select the all-state team last year and with good reason. Hailey (pictured left) is such an explosive scorer, she can pull up and let it fly from anywhere and can get on those kind of runs that can determine the outcome of a game. Best form on a shot I have seen in many years, elevates and has a good release. Good handles, can slash and score. [player_tooltip player_id="157707" first="Sole" last="Williams"], 5-7 2023, Cincinnati Princeton This kid is so special, she has an incredible number of D1 offers and it won’t stop anytime soon. She has the complete package and heading into her junior season, Sole looks to bounce back after an injury-riddled sophomore season with the Vikings. She has incredible skills, able to control the tempo of a game, great handles, can push the ball for the quick score. Will beat you in multiple ways. Uncommitted but like I said, plenty of takers. She currently sits #3 in the 2023 rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="93548" first="Morgan" last="Hunt"], 5-11 2023, New Madison Tri Village She has vastly improved her game over the past couple of years, and from what I saw this summer, it was impressive how polished she has become. I saw a big improvement in June from what I saw last year in the post season tournament, her skill set has really developed and she played more controlled in a faster environment. Played well in transition and was able to finish with more authority at the rim. Has good range, solid defender and causes turnovers. She saw her stock rise to #8 in the latest PGH ’23 rankings. Uncommitted. [player_tooltip player_id="218358" first="Morganne" last="Postell"], 5-7 2024, Dayton Thurgood Marshall She has a very productive freshman season, and an impressive summer with Ohio Elite. She looks to lead a rising Thurgood Marshall team to the top of their conference and beyond. Really like Morganne’s guard development, and her poise for such a young player. She thrives in a fast system and is able to show great leadership as her game continues to grow. Very athletic, good handles and a tough defender who can cause havoc. Currently ranked #10 in the latest PGH ’24 rankings, and is the highest ranked Dayton area in her class. Uncommitted. [player_tooltip player_id="217360" first="Riley" last="Smith"], 6-2 2024, Kettering Alter Her game has become more polished over the past year, and I look for a breakout season with the much-improved Knights. She has good hands and can catch and score around the rim. Also can step out and produce, is a factor defensively with her long frame. She has great range and can knock it down behind the arc. Smart basketball IQ and her stock has exploded. Moving on up the rankings, jumped to #11 in the latest PGH rankings. Uncommitted. (pictured left)
