Barber is undeniably a bucket getter, with a remarkable ability to score from virtually anywhere on the floor. She has a natural talent for finding her spots and getting to them with precision, whether it’s a mid-range jumper, a crafty finish in the paint, or a deadly three-pointer. Her footwork and ball-handling skills allow her to create separation from defenders, making it difficult for anyone to stop her once she’s in rhythm. Barber’s scoring versatility is what truly sets her apart—she can drive to the basket, pull up for a jumper, or use an effective spin move to get an open look. Her offensive IQ and confidence in her shot make her one of the most dangerous players on the court, always capable of putting up points when her team needs them the most.

I have followed Barber for several years and she is one of the smartest, most talented, yet under-appreciated point guards in the state. A first team Greater Wichita Area League and Varsity Kansas 6A honorable mention selection at Wichita Northwest in 2023 she was inexplicably left off the 2024 honor roll completely. Granted she missed a good chunk of the season, but against Washburn Rural in the 6A state quarterfinals she played quality minutes was a major interior defensive presence despite only being at maybe 65%. She has attracted offers from Division I and II programs as well as strong NJCAA Division I programs. A very high IQ and diversified floor general, Barber moves up a spot from the 2023 Wichita area all-class top 10 . Read more about her below.

. A floor general in every sense of the world. Always has the game under control. A big strong guard, defenders trying to pick her up full court are not going to get much out of it. Also holding an offer from Texas Rio Grande, an obvious chemistry between her and her teammate Ellis would transfer very well to the next level. A great game manager to pair with an athlete like Ellis. Currently 14th on the 2025 Kansas rankings, I didn’t get to see her in “I have to go score” mode, as she didn’t need to. Would love to have another look at her later this summer.

#5 Another team-oriented player I have watched for years is Barber. Transferring from Wichita Northwest, her third school in three years, I sense this will be her final stop. Barber is comfortable running the point and playing the two but I see her as most impactful at the latter unless she decides to lead like she did last season. Ranked #10 statewide in her class, she moves up from #8 in the city from last year. What Barber generally brings to table is the ability to quietly destroy people. She has a high level, diversified skill set and the ability to change gears. As I said last year, 25′ three ball over a backed-off defender or very high screen – check. No-look pass on the break to gather the assist – check. Attack the close-out and score fluidly with either hand – check. Take a hit, free throws, defend solidly – check, check, and check. It will be interesting to see how things shake out for a 11-9 Falcons team with multiple, talented returning starters which has had several all-GWAL players transfer in. With most of the transfers and talented incoming freshman being guards, what I will be looking for is how she leads in a new environment. Holding an offer from University of Texas – Rio Grande, Barber is just getting started.

KaMyra is quick on her feet and knows when to come in to steal the basketball. Not only is she able to deflect passes made to the opponents. Her range extends beyond mid- range. She is quick off the dribble and is able to hit shots down right off a pass. If the shot is not ideal you see her making plays with her teammates to get herself open again. KaMyra is constantly on the move looking for the next opportunity to make the next play.

KaMyra did a great job keeping her team locked in. She handled the ball well and was poised when getting her team in poisiton to run plays. She did not allow the defense to change her pace on offense but definitely flustered her opponents when she was on the defensive end.
