Ranked at #12, Destiny will likely expand her leadership role with key seniors leaving Wichita Heights. Her speed and quickness on both sides of the ball should garner her a top 10 bid. Destiny plays with a ton of intensity, combined with endurance, and that just makes opponents around her commit more turnovers. Due to these factors, she can compete with anyone in the top 3 on any given night.

Maze’s presence and overall game matured substantially over the past year. She has long been known as a terrific, athletic and speed scorer as well as a quick and rangy defender. While 6A all-state teams have yet to be released I fully expect to see her appear in all of them. After averaging 13.1 points (shooting 30% from three and 69% from the line), 5.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists (versus 2.2 turnovers) and 2.1 steals she was selected to the Greater Wichita Area League first team.

#2 for Wichita Heights, Destiny is a Pace-Setting Point guard with a tremendous motor. She can switch gears and turn up the court in the blink of an eye. She led the team in assists against KMC in the win and also put in 11 big points with a huge corner three that halted a KMC momentum shift. Destiny showed her well-rounded game and filled up the stat sheet on Defense against KMC as well, with 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Maze’s game and talent has long showed itself on the floor. What impressed me against Eisenhower though was how well her game has matured. She played at different speeds with intention, attacked what the defense gave and shared the ball well. Maze also used her length and quickness defensively to disrupt.

Destiny is the true definition of a combo guard. She adds length in size to the court and uses it to her advantage. She is able to facilitate the court and create the spacing she needs to create moves. Destiny’s length helps her to not only drive down the lane whenever she sees fit, but allows her to block shots when defending. Her length really helps the floor when it comes to defense because she is able to help when needed. Destiny is a great catch and shoot player. She is confident when catching the ball and is ready to shoot regardless of the location on the court.

You know the Maze name from the athletic and talented family and the presence they have made in the community from over the years. Destiny will be no different, from her athletic ability to run and jump and completely change the game without the scoring aspects but just simply her intangibles is a huge factor. She has a high IQ for the game and seems to always be 10 steps ahead of her opponents. We are anticipating a great high school career from Destiny and we know she will put on a show. A bright future ahead.
