The event serves as a tune up to the regular season and gives high school teams an opportunity to compete against some top competition. I was able to attend the event on Sunday 10/10 and here’s a quick look at some of the top standouts that I saw.
1. Aliyahna Morris – Etiwanda 2025
Morris is freshman who is set to make a big impact this season. She’s a point guard who does a great job handling defensive pressure. She uses a lot of head fakes to get her defender out of position and she’s good off the dribble. She can get into the lane easily, but could use a little more control when finishing. That’ll come though as she develops. She’s got a nice stop and pop jumper. Defensively, she’s solid. Good on-ball defender with quick hands.
2. Christy Reynoso Christy Reynoso 5'5" | PG Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA – Sierra Canyon 2024
Reynoso made a solid impact last season as a freshman and she looks to take another step forward. She’s very quick off the dribble. She can get the rim and finish over bigger defenders. A great ball-handler who looked comfortable initiating offense. She can really turn on the jets and just blow past her defender. She’s a pretty solid three-point shooter off catch and shoot situations; does a good job moving and getting free.
3. Caia Elisaldez Caia Elisaldez 5'5" | PG Mater Dei HS | 2023 State CA – Mater Dei 2023
Elisaldez did well as the starting point guard. She’s just an overall steady hand who is a good decision maker. She’s runs the break well and can find open teammates running the floor. She has a good midrange jumper and uses fakes to get the defender in the air. Shoots it well from three point range too. Good face up game. She’s also got a good off the dribble game. Just an overall solid floor leader.
4. Sydni Summers Sydni Summers 5'4" | CG Corona Centennial HS | 2023 State CA – Coronal Centennial 2023
Summers is a player I first saw two years ago making an impact as a freshman in CIF playoffs. Her defense stood out to me then and it certainly did again this weekend. She was matched up on some possessions against UCLA commit Jada Williams Jada Williams 5'6" | PG La Jolla Country Day | 2023 State #6 Nation CA and she did a decent job staying in front of her and forcing to give up the ball at times. Great on ball pressure. She has a good slashing game and she pushes the pace well in transition. She can shoot it consistently from the perimeter as well.
