We will take a look at the young guns next, the 2025s along with a few younger players who opened eyes in Van Wert.
Corniya Clay Corniya Clay 5'3" | PG Toledo Central Classic | 2024 State OH , 5-4 2024, Toledo Central Catholic
A confident guard who works for her team. She is highly skilled, with fast handles and tough to contain. She will drive or create when left open, she makes the defense work. Plays with a good swagger, will lock you down defensively and continues to improve every day. (pictured left)
Savana Brooks, 5-8 2024, Allen East
Savana is a versatile player. She is a strong guard, handles ball pressure well, and moves well without the ball. She is a “does whatever is needed” kind of player. Hard nosed and gives effort all the time. Good handles, able to score at the rim or will drop it from the perimeter.
Anna Gray, 5-7 2024, Tinora
She can contribute in a variety of ways. Adds energy on the floor on the offensive end to keep the ball moving. She runs the floor well with her team, communicates on transition, and ready to take a shot or drive. Smart basketball IQ with good court vision. High motor.
DC Lanier, 5-1 2024, Port Clinton
Such a sparkplug for her team. So fun to watch. She’s small but strong, athletic & fast–uses her skill to create shots for herself, can shoot and score from anywhere with her ability to create space. Don’t let her hit a shot- she will get hot quick. Not afraid of contact, can finish smoothly at the rim. She caught the eye of many in the gym.
Sophia Spangler Sophia Spangler 5'6" | CG Loudonville | 2024 State OH , 5-6 2024, Big Walnut
A selfless player on the floor and works hard for her team. She has a beautiful hook shot in the paint that you can tell she has worked on. Has great pressure on defense, never quits on a play, and has great touch with the ball! Second time I have seen her play in the last month, this young lady just wants to get better. Loves the opportunities to compete. (pictured right)
Madeline Militello, 5-1 2024, Fremont St. Joe’s
A player that goes to war for her team, and she won’t back down to anyone. Every possession matters to her. Always hustles from one end to the next. She is quick with the ball, pushes the floor, and has a nice shot. Good future for this sophomore as her game continues to grow.
Jaicee Wallace, 5-7 2024, Akron Hoban
Made the trip from NE Ohio, she is a force to be reckoned with on the floor. So strong with the ball on offense and not afraid to get physical. She does it all- is strong and fearless with the ball, drives hard to the basket and has great communication on the floor. Team player.
Gabby Pernell, 5-4 2024, Southeastern
All the way from Ross County is a young lady who showed good athleticism with good handles! Details matter to her. She is smooth and strong with the ball, good at creating space to make a pass or take a shot. High skill level and fantastic intangibles.
Lyla Graley Lyla Graley 5'7" | SG Carroll | 2024 OH , 5-7 2024, Beavercreek
Good ceiling for her. A player with grit, who will work hard for her team. She has solid hands on defense, creates steals and can see the floor well to find a teammate. She also has a nice shot and always moves without the ball. High floor IQ and big heart for the game. Good ceiling for Lyla. (feature photo above)
Savannah Laurenty Savannah Laurenty 5'10" | CG Riverside | 2024 OH , 5-10 2024, Riverside
Has a great understanding of the game. She has good handles and can shoot it. She takes care of the ball and uses her length to her advantage. Once she gets that step by you with the ball- its over with. Can play through contact and take care of the ball.
