I watched intently as all these girls displayed their tremendous ability to play ball, and after observing all twelve games and making so many notes that it would put Beethoven to shame, I’ve been able to produce my PGH Top 250 Oregon expo All-Event teams.
First Team
Malaya LeSueur Malaya LeSueur 5'9" | SF Benson Tech | 2023 State OR | Wing | Benson Polytechnic | 2023
One of my favorites to watch, Malaya LeSueur Malaya LeSueur 5'9" | SF Benson Tech | 2023 State OR showed that she can compete with anybody else who is on the court against her. She possess great athleticism and she was seemingly able to score whenever she felt like it. She has great instinct whenever it comes to making the right play, and her multi level scoring ability makes her a threat anywhere on the floor. Not much needs to be said about her that I haven’t mentioned in previous articles. I really enjoyed watching LeSueur play on both sides of the ball, and can’t wait to see what she goes on to do.
Jasmine Davidson | Forward | Clackamas | 2025
A versatile, two way force of nature that many others had trouble stopping. Jasmine Davidson really just has IT. Her length and athleticism made her an absolute threat on the fast break. She’s crafty for her size, and that helps Davidson be such a monster down in the paint. She will block shots and she will average eight plus rebounds a game if she continues to crash the boards like she does. A truly tremendous all around player who can be the best player on a championship level team if she continues to play at this pace.
Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR | Guard | Sam Barlow | 2023
A true ball hawk, Kennedie Shuler Kennedie Shuler 5'10" | PG Sam Barlow | 2023 State OR displayed a great ability to play on both sides of the ball, and was a major annoyance to ball handlers every game. She plays really hard. Shuler wasn’t afraid to throw her body all over the floor if she has a chance to get possession. I get the vibe that she plays with the most confidence on the court, almost like she thinks at all times that she is the top competitor out there. She plays with a swagger that any team would want to have. I was really impressed by her scoring ability and her perimeter shooting, and she showed why she can be a top two way player in the state.
Payton Ratcliffe Payton Ratcliffe 6'3" | SF Wilsonville | 2025 State OR | Forward | Wilsonville | 2025
There wasn’t another player out there that I saw quite like Payton Ratcliffe Payton Ratcliffe 6'3" | SF Wilsonville | 2025 State OR . She plays within her size, and she knows that she can out rebound, and be an absolute force on the defenses end. Ratcliffe has a great ability to block shots, and I noticed quite a few times players being hesitant to drive in and attack the basket with her under it. Another unique aspect of her game is her floor spacing, and jump shooting. For her height, you wouldn’t think she could hit three pointers, but in all honesty she was the best shooter over 6’0 there. Her release point is high which gives smaller defenders loads of trouble trying to stop. Ratcliffe is the anchor for a team, and she showed that fantastically at the expo.
McKylee Hawkins | Wing | Bothell | 2024
McKylie Hawkins showed to me that she has the potential to be a top defender in the state this year, and has great ability to score in multiple ways. She is strong, so she was able to get through defenders and double teams rather easily. She was really good at drawing fouls, and Hawkins was able to savage busted plays into baskets. But, while she performed great on the offensive end, the defensive end is where she really shined. She made lives tough for whoever she was assigned to guard, and her size allows her to be a switchable defender who can defend multiple positions. She reads passing lanes really well and her toughness helps her gain extra possessions by causing turnovers. Look for McKylie Hawkins to be a top defender for this upcoming season.
Second Team
Kara Roberts | Guard | Lakeridge | 2025
Kara Roberts was one’ve, if not, the top shooter at the expo. It seems like whenever I saw Kara Roberts shoot a outside shot it went in. A very reliable player on the floor despite her size, Roberts showed to me that she has the capability and confidence to score in tight moments. Her teammates were always looking for her when she was out there, which showed to me a huge amount of trust that Roberts has from her teammates. Once she sets her feet, her jumper is deadly. A very quick player off ball, it helps her get to her spots where she feels comfortable. I look forward to seeing what how Roberts adds to her game as she grows as a player.
Eliza Buerk Eliza Buerk 6'3" | PF Clackamas | 2023 State OR | Forward | Clackamas | 2023
Another inside presence where other players seemed hesitant to drive on, Eliza Buerk Eliza Buerk 6'3" | PF Clackamas | 2023 State OR played wonderfully the couple of games I was able to watch. She has great control of her body and her size helps her be a great shot blocking presence in the paint. She has a post game bag that I didn’t see anybody else really pull out, but Buerk had showed that she can hit fade away jumpers and contested shots with no problem. Her instincts are tremendous and has all the potential in the world if she continues to show progression and consistency.
Jordan Leith | Guard | Meadowdale | 2023
Jordan Leith was another sharp shooter that I really enjoyed watching fling the basketball. Offensively, she was really good at moving around screens and creating positioning off the dribble to get to her shot. She can score in multiple ways, and showed that range is not a problem for her. She’s a real microwave when she gets going and her quick feet and agility helps her get around picks and her spot up shooting ability will help her and her team go a long way. She showed tons of heart and played like she had a chip on her shoulder. Seems like a real coachable players as well.
Bella Hasan | Guard | Kamiak | 2024
A legit joy to watch with the ball, Bella Hasan displayed a wide array of tricks and moves with great ball handling ability and showcased a nice variety of passes. She moves really fast, and her quickness made defenders struggle to stay in front of her at times. Hasan at times had defenders tripping over themselves and stumbling and her crafty ball handling ability helped fake out multiple defenders multiple possessions. Watching her I can tell that she is a player that has great court awareness and is always looking to make the right play. Shooting wise, she was an absolute sniper from the outside, and her ways of creating looks for herself and others definitely helped put points on the board.
Dylan Mogel | Wing | Clackamas | 2025
If there was one word to describe how Dylan Mogel plays, it would be dynamic. With great size, length and a willingness to do the dirty work, she was someone I came away being really impressed with. I can tell she gave fits to whoever she was guarding. and she was always in the passing lanes which helped get get multiple steals. Mogel is a solid two way player who can become elite over time. Other teams need to always be aware of Dylan Mogel’s presence on the court, because she can be the x factor for a winning team. Her terrific slashing qualities truly help her be a true menace on both ends, and I look forward to seeing what she continues to do.
Third Team
Diamond Wright | Wing | Sheldon | 2025
A gifted, athletic scorer, Diamond Wright was always putting in 110% at all times I saw her play. A energetic slashing wing on the offensive end and a tremendous point of attack defender on the other end, Wright played with tons of grit and hustle that made her a treat to watch. She can get to the basket in multiple ways and was very successful in drawing contact for easy points. She played with great patience, and while she was very fast with her moves, it looked like the game just moves in slow motion for her. I can tell that scoring is in her blood, and can see her becoming someone to keep eyes on for this upcoming season.
Zoe Hamilton | Forward | Eastside Catholic | 2025
A very skilled player who can stretch the floor well, Zoe Hamilton showed that she has game from both the inside and the outside. She had a very solid mid range stroke and displayed good consistency with her shooting. Every single play she was playing hard and tough, and I was appreciative of the fact that she uses her strength to help her move defenders around. The one skill that Zoe Hamilton showed better than everybody else was her excellent boxing out capability. She helped her teammates a ton by just being able to create space for her teammates to get the ball, and being able to box out well shows signs of a great team player. She should be fun to keep watching in the future.
Micah Wicks Micah Wicks 5'5" | PG Sutherlin | 2023 State OR | Guard | Sutherlin | 2023
All heart and hustle is Micah Wicks Micah Wicks 5'5" | PG Sutherlin | 2023 State OR . She showcased her willingness to attack the basket when she had a lane, and her unselfishness which helps her teammates get easy buckets. She has a solid perimeter shooting game who is good for three to four threes a night. Her quick hands help her come up with steals on the defensive end, and her fast reflexes help her come up with loose balls and deflections. She’s a reliable player to have out on the court who gives it her all every minute. Can’t wait to see more of her.
Rylie McManus | Guard | McMinnville | 2025
Rylie McManus looked to be a pure reliable clutch scorer and she had great ball handling ability that made her hard to defend. She has a real legit mid ranger jumper, and I can tell that she has really good knowledge for the game. I couldn’t help but appreciate just how fundamentally sound McManus approaches the game of Basketball. I can tell her teammates like her, and she works hard every single play. If you want a potential team leader on your team, Rylie McManus fits the bill. I liked watching her score, and I liked her team first attitude.
Kendra Hicks Kendra Hicks 6'0" | PF Jesuit | 2024 State OR | Forward | Jesuit | 2025
Hicks has a very high basketball IQ for age. I can tell that she is putting in 100% effort on both ends of the floor, and it’s backed up by stats. She can feast on boards, get defenders up in the air on fakes, and has numerous post moves she can hit you with to get easy buckets. She displayed tremendous blocking ability and running the floor afterwards. It’s not common to see taller players to hustle back on defense like Hicks does, and her teammates award her on the other end. Take into consideration her very solid shooting game too, she has the tools of becoming a very promising player. I can’t wait to see what Kendra Hicks Kendra Hicks 6'0" | PF Jesuit | 2024 State OR continues to show in the future.
