COBRAS UNITED TIP-OFF: St. Frances vs Friendship

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>COBRAS UNITED TIP-OFF: St. Frances Academy vs Friendship Collegiate</strong></span> St. Frances Academy was firing on all cylinders at the Cobra United Tip-Off against Friendship Collegiate.  This was their only game in the tournament and it would have been nice to see them matched up against another team as the Knights offered little resistance to the Panthers.  The end result was a 71-25 St. Frances win and a chance to see some of the Baltimore area’s top talent in their first real game. <strong>Standout Players:</strong> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="137242" first="Daimoni" last="Dorsey"] - 5’8" - Guard - St. Frances Academy - 2022</strong> Daimoni show off her range knocking down four 3-pointers in route to a 17 point night.  A couple of her shots were from beyond the college line.  She made some nice plays to get teammates involved and unselfishly looked to get the ball inside to the post players. <strong>Jaa’la Bannerman - 5’7" - Point Guard - St. Frances Academy - 2022</strong> <img class="alignnone wp-image-344683 size-medium" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/10/Jala-Bannerman-1-300x199.jpg" alt="Ja’la Bannerman" width="300" height="199" /> Jaa’la scored a game high 18 points showing off her quick first step.  She blew by every defender that the Knights put on her something that she also did in fall league play.  She showed range knocking down two 3-pointers but, attacking the basket is really her true threat. <strong>MaKenzie Thomas - 6’0" - Wing - Friendship Collegiate - 2024</strong> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-363066" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/DSC_0677-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" /> MaKenzie was the bright spot for FCA and played hard despite the score, in fact I never saw her look up at the scoreboard once.  She scored 10 points and was the only Knight to hit double figures. <strong>Andre’a Cherisier - 6’0" - Forward - St. Frances Academy - 2023</strong> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-363068" style="font-size: 1rem;" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/DSC_0249-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" /> Andre’a held down the inside with a solid 16 point double-double.  She used her body well absorbing contact and getting to the line.  She had a good touch from the line making free-throws and can stretch the floor out to around thirteen feet. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="389440" first="Damaya" last="Smart"] - 5’7" - Guard - Friendship Collegiate - 2023</strong> <img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-363067" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/12/DSC_0690-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" /> Damaya had a couple baskets in the first half but her defensive effort is what caught my attention.  She covers a lot of ground in the zone and at one stretch she was literally guarding two players at the same time.
