<p class="p1">It was a great matchup between two teams in the Greater Metro 4A conference.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Hickory Ridge left with the victory over Cox Mill 60 to 37 in a game that they lead for basically its entirety.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Here are some of the standouts from the matchup.</p>
<p class="p1">Let’s start with the eye catchers from Hickory Ridge.</p>
<p class="p1"><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Erica-McClary-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219763.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376268 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Erica-McClary-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219763-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>Get you a guard that rebounds like <b>Erica McClary</b> (G, 2023).<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She crashes the boards sneaking in behind her opponents to grab them, and she knows exactly how to put them back up for some points or kick it out to a player ready to shoot.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She scores herself driving with ease, and she can certainly shoot from deep.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She had a nice pull up off of a fast break showing her IQ when it comes to scoring.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="253285" first="Alyssa" last="Lewis"]</b> (pictured above, G, 2023) was dominating on defense grabbing steals on her team’s press.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She knew exactly how to push these up the court finding open teammates or finishing at the rim herself.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She continues to show off her three point shooting from behind the arc.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She even finished the third quarter with a half court buzzer beater.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She moves with high speed but changes direction with ease throwing off her opponents.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She was the leading scorer for the Bulls with 17 points.<b><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Sheree-Gidney-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219824.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376270 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Sheree-Gidney-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219824-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="252850" first="Sheree" last="Gidney"]</b> (PF, 2024) showed off some nice moves in the paint including a spin move to a pull up jumper that she drained with ease.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She battles through contact even making an old fashioned three point play.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She does well moving without the ball setting herself up beyond the arc to find her open teammates.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She had a nice fake to get her opponents off of her responding with a knockdown jumper.<b><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Kaitlyn-Walters-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220083.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376280 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Kaitlyn-Walters-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220083-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="322072" first="Kaitlyn" last="Walters"]</b> (G, 2022) was all over the court on defense constantly flying in on dead ball situations tying it up to regain the possession including three steals.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She hustled back in transition to prevent her opponents from scoring on a fast break.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="206410" first="Jasmine" last="Fearne"]</b> (SF, 2022) came off the bench contributing right away with her drives baseline for some points.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She was phenomenal at faking and driving around her opponents, and she didn’t hesitate to show off her shot from three.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Her height made it easy for her to get inside and grab some boards.</p>
<p class="p1"><b>[player_tooltip player_id="295025" first="Gabreyel" last="Cook"]</b> (G, 2022) was a force on defense grabbing steals and causing deflections on the Bulls’ press.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She was definitely the loudest on the court talking on defense making sure her opponents knew where she was to help and where they needed to move to help the team.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She made sure to get in on the shooting action from deep.</p>
<p class="p1">Now, it’s time to look at the Cox Mill lineup.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Ariana-Perry-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219884.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376272 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Ariana-Perry-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642219884-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>Ariana Perry</b> (G, 2023) came right out from the jump getting herself set up for her three point shooting, and she made sure she continued to show that again in the game.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She did well handling the ball driving hard to the basket, and she has a lethal spin move that gets some space between her and her defender.</p>
<p class="p1"><b><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Kylie-Lewis-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220003.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376277 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Kylie-Lewis-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220003-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>Kylie Lewis</b> (G, 2022) was making plays with ease whether she was grabbing the rebound and making nice passes up the court, or she was finding open teammates underneath the basket to get them some points.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>Her length was a problem on defense constantly deflecting passes and slowing down her opponents’ offense.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She was the leading scorer for the Chargers with 13 points.<b><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Lauren-Farrell-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220160.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-376284 aligncenter" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2022/01/Lauren-Farrell-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1642220160-300x197.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="197" /></a>Lauren Farrell</b> (SF, 2025) had a strong second half for the Chargers.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She already has good size, and she knows how to seal off her opponents to get the entry pass.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>She did well following shots knowing how they would bounce off the rim to grab the second chance opportunity or end the possession for her opponents.</p>
