Peaking at the Right Time!

With the regular season in the books, it’s time for some teams to start to make their run to the state tournament. Several players are playing their best ball now and have picked up their game as the season comes to a close. Over the next few days, we will look at some of those players who are heading into the spring with momentum. [player_tooltip player_id="319654" first="Elise" last="Bender"], 5-11 2025, Anthony Wayne- Both of the Bender twins have bright futures ahead of them. Elise shows a good first step to the rim and the ability to finish with either hand. Has good body control and strong hands. Can catch and shoot with good range and can play at many tempos. [player_tooltip player_id="319655" first="Brooke" last="Bender"], 5-11 2025, Anthony Wayne- Can use her long athletic frame to play both inside and out. Good range from the perimeter, can score from the baseline and around the arc. Like her defense, can match up with any position on the floor, Smart player and one who continues to improve. Solid on the boards, able to control the paint. [player_tooltip player_id="218299" first="Taylor" last="Scohy"], 5-9 2024, Bellbrook- She proved to be the best player in her half of the Southwestern Buckeye League, and the last eight games of the regular season, Taylor has dominated, averaging double figures in scoring in every game, while dishing out nearly four assists per game. She is the complete package that not many people talked about this season, but she more than proved herself to everyone with a great regular season! Love her game! [player_tooltip player_id="360641" first="Shelby" last="Humphrey"], 5-11 2023, Anderson- She has been steady for the most part this season, and in the last five games, she has been consistently in double figures and close in rebounding also. She is averaging seven rebounds per game over the last couple of weeks, and in a loss to Harrison, Humphrey was close to a triple-double with seven assists in addition to her scoring and boards. Strong physical kid, can score in the paint and has a nice midrange game. [player_tooltip player_id="312675" first="Samantha" last="Hoelscher"], 6-0 2022, Marion Local- She is finishing up her career well with the Flyers, as Sam (featured photo above) recently scored her 1,000th career point and is currently uncommitted for college. She has all the tools to be a very successful next-level kid and is a player who can score from inside or out. Good handles and runs the court well, solid defender and is able to create for her team. Coaches- you need to make a trip to Maria Stein!
