With AAU just around the corner, this will be the last go-around for this list of newcomers to hit the summer circuit. Let us introduce the newest ballers that made our list!
[player_tooltip player_id="387927" first="Arlisha" last="Boston"] 5’9 SG King’s Fork HS 19
A long 5’9 and it looks like can still may grow an inch. She played the wing and kind of a hybrid stretch four. Great life and athleticism she’s able to take a vantage of mismatches from the top of the key. She has tremendous upside and her game is still growing she holds a CAA offer. That conference might just be her landing spot when she’s finished with high school.
[player_tooltip player_id="383820" first="Elena" last="Bertrand"] 5’5 PG Highland 22
Elena put herself in a position to be one of the most talk-about guards in the state. She backed it up with some great numbers. She averaged nearly 28 points a game along with 5 steals a game. She’s definitely a scoring point guard but also can run the offense in a set as well. She has proven to be an explosive player and scorer I’m pretty sure she will show that in AAU as well!
[player_tooltip player_id="149865" first="Madyson" last="Burney"] 5’8 SG shining Stars Academy 23
The transfer from New Hope Academy hit the Virginia scene in the middle of the season and has not disappointed. Since joining the team she is been the team leading scorer. She is a very good three-point shooter and she could also pull up off the jumper I think by next year she will evolve into a combo guard. She plays a national schedule against good competition recently just picked up an offer from UNC Greensboro.
[player_tooltip player_id="293239" first="Joi" last="Williams"] 5’7 PG Virginia Academy 30
This was a big year for Virginia Academy program led by [player_tooltip player_id="293239" first="Joi" last="Williams"]. This 5’7Junior was one of the key pieces of a successful division three state championship. They made a big jump and added a lot of high-quality opponents on the schedule for the year. Joi has several division one college interest including Furman, Northeastern. She will be suiting up for Fairfax stars this summer I’m pretty sure she may walk out of the summer viewing period with an offer.
[player_tooltip player_id="385515" first="Taylor" last="Ethridge"] 5’10 SF Catholic 31
Taylor had a very impressive year! She can play either shooting guard or small forward it really looks like she can possibly develop point forward skills as well. She has good body control when she shoots and was she attacks the basket. With her last summer approaching and a talented group of wings at Boo Williams time will tell to see if she makes that EYBL team.
[player_tooltip player_id="379583" first="Cierra" last="McGinlay"] 5’7 CG Glen Allen HS
Cierra went from role player to arguably best player on the team last year. She averaged 14 points a game that led the team! She’s developed into a true combo guard and had to take a leadership role with a team loaded with freshmen. She led her high school to its first-ever regional title. She has a lot of momentum this year heading into this summer where she will be playing AAU for FBC HAVOC.
