Of the many talented players in the 14U Division at the Buckeye Breakdown last weekend in Columbus, Ohio these were the best that I saw.

Granted, due to scheduling, I was only able to see each of them play once.  As you know, players sometimes have differing results from one game to the next.  That is especially true the younger they are at the time and PGH doesn’t cover them any younger than this.

So to everybody on this list, don’t let it go to your head.  You all still have so much work to do.  But great game this week.  And to those of you not on this list.  Keep working.  There is so much work left to do.

(More coverage on players that did not make the 1st Team later this week.)

1st Team

Tessa Horsley - 5’6" - Teays Valley East ’27 -Ohio Impact ’26

Horsley was outstanding.  She seemed unstoppable at times and made her teammates better around her through her energy and effort.

She turned defensive effort into layups, hit the boards for putbacks, made timely passes to get shots for teammates within the offense, and generally ran the show in the halfcourt.

Of the many talented Guards at the event she displayed the most complete game.

Claire Tierney - 5’9" - Scott County ’26 - Overtime Performance ’26

I have seen Tierney’s team play at another PGH event but I don’t remember her from there (see my thoughts in the open).  But she put forward a great performance this weekend.  Especially in the second half when she was clearly feeling it.

She impacted the game on the glass on both ends of the court and sometimes started the break up the court off the defensive rebound and put it in on the offensive boards.  She made the type of shots you need a Forward to make, like the 12-footer from the corner, the 8-footer inside the free-throw line, scored on the lob under the basket, and even drove in from the wing for the pull-up 6-footer

From where her skills are today she has some options on how to develop in the future.  But for now, she is 4 with some ball-handling skills, as long as she doesn’t try to do too much with the dribble.

Chloe Bullinger - 5’6" - Tecumseh ’26 - Michigan Cobras ’26

Bullinger is a shooter and ballhandler that pushes tempo, finds teammates on the break and in the offense, and knocks down the open looks she gets along the perimeter.

Unfortunately, due to the scheduling snafu caused by a blackout, I was unable to see the Cobras play an entire game.  But I was able to see them pounding a good team that I am familiar with from previous events.  That, and it doesn’t take me very long to get a feel for what a player can do.

Leigh Wyman - 5’7" - Blissfield ’26 - Michigan Cobras ’26

The scorekeeper informed me that Wyman had made 3 of 5 three-point shots before I was able to start watching the game and the clock operator confirmed it (always be nice to the people at the Table).

She turned defense into layups, hit the boards for putbacks, displayed a mean crossover (right-to-left), and has the speed to get to the rim.

Anna Cate Seltsam - 5’10" - St Luke ’26 - Dayton Metro ’26

Seltsam is a shot blocker, that can put the ball on the floor, intercept passes in the press and take it the distance for a layup.   She is also a shooter and was perhaps the most versatile player at the event.  She was certainly the most versatile big last weekend.

I don’t want to get too far out on my skis with predictions but Seltsam may have more upside, as far as playing major college basketball than any player in the 14U Division.  However, that does depend on multiple factors, based on continued hard work, dedication, and how much she continues to grow.

2nd Team (alphabetically)

Triniti Austin-Russell - 5’5" - McKinley ’27 - FINAO ’26

Sophie Hart - 5’9" - Crown Point ’26 - NWI Thunder ’26

Addison Hendrixson - 5’9" - Lacrosse ’26 - NWI Thunder ’26

Bella Keeton - 5’3" - Gower Heights ’26 - Dayton Vipers Elite ’26 Black

Kendra Steele - 5’7" - Andrew Jackson ’27 - FINAO ’26

Honorable Mentions (alphabetically)

Sydney Cobb - 5’9" - Baldwin Road ’27 - Ohio Impact ’26

Zoey Conn - 5’8" - Graham ’27 - Dayton Vipers ’26 Black

Breanna Deaton - 5’2" - Mad River ’26 - Dayton Vipers Elite ’26 Pink

Emma Eldred - 5’9" - Tecumseh ’26 - Michigan Cobras ’26

Karoyn Erford - 5’7" - Glandorf ’26 - Team 419 ’26

Kyla Hunt - 5’1" - East Jessamine ’26 - Overtime Performance ’26

Naliyah Knight - 5’0" - Reynoldsburg Baldwin ’27 - Mid-Ohio Phoenix ’26

Remy Largent - 5’7" - Big Walnut ’27 - Ohio Impact ’26

Dymon Percell - 5’5" - Royal Spring ’26 - Overtime Perfromance ’26

The Michigan Cobras ’26 as a team.
