Continue ReadingWe ventured out about 2 hours on the road to watch some of the best teams on the west play this weekend in Thousand Oaks at the Sports Academy (formerly the Mamba Center) and we were impressed with the talent in the house. The Sports Academy teams are now affiliated with Cal Swish/GBL and they are playing their teams on the NIKE EYBL circuit. We were in attendance to watch a few teams this weekend and this is what we took from it, evaluations of girls on these teams and how they performed on the court in front of scouts. These will be really enjoyable, because we got a lot of content and this is Part 3 of 3.
Sports Academy/Swish GBL Players:
2024, 6’3, PF/C, Crossroads HS, Me’Arah O’Neal Me’Arah O’Neal 6'3" | C Crossroads | 2024 State CA – daughter of Shaquille O’Neal is really fun to watch play the game of basketball, she is dynamic at her size and is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to being a competitor on the floor. She has great size, of course, because of her families gene pool, but she is a long and lanky athlete that is showing everyone her skillset is more than just being a post player in the paint like her dad. She knocked down (3) three pointers as we watch in the one game, she has a nice stroke and shot it with nothing but great confidence. She can run the floor and catch and finish or setup in the paint and seal and get the bucket, this kid is nice in our book, good job Shaq, she can play.
Sydni Summers Sydni Summers 5'4" | CG Corona Centennial HS | 2023 State CA – Sydni is a true player, she is the daughter of a trainer in the Riverside area and she is representing her father very well in that regard. She is the prototypical point guard that any coach would want playing for them, she is can do it all, distribute, handle, defend and score. Now in my opinion, she is one of the toughest guards out West, she can score from all three levels on the court, but what stands out to me is her pull up midrange game from fifteen feet out. That right there is impressive, cause many young athletes have not mastered the midrange game that is hard to guard, cause it is impulsive and hard to predict on the court, RIP Hamilton made a living on it and was one of the greatest shooter around. Sydni is a player, Coaches keep her there if you have not already snatched her up.
Mackenly Randolph Mackenly Randolph 5'10" | PF Sierra Canyon | 2024 State CA – Mackenly is the truth as well, she is just like her dad Zack Randolph by the way she carries herself on the court and her skillset, she has been working with dad in some manner. She is long and lanky as well, she can finish at the rim with seals and also step out and shoot the midrange jumper from the free throw line. She uses her size well in the paint and she is an aggressive rebounder and defender on the other side of the court. She runs the floor well and is a catch and finish player, loves the transition play and can also dime to a teammate for an easy bucket. Another player here for coaches to watch, I said it here…
Addison Deal Addison Deal 5'10" | CG Mater Dei | 2025 State CA – Addy as we call her has been around and we had the pleasure to see her blossom as an 8th grader and now she has taken her talents to high school and she did not dissapoint us. Addy is that tall and lanky guard that has a knack for scoring the ball, she has good ball control, she can distribute or assist a teammate for an easy score. She is tough as nails and she is aggressive on the offensive and defensive side of the floor, which makes her an all-around player in my book. She can score from all three levels on the floor and she is quite an athlete as you watch her play the game of basketball. We intend on watching her for the rest of her high school career, she is really fun and exciting to watch on the floor.
