Kelsey is finishing her senior season on a high note for individual awards. This marks the third time she has been named to the All-State team and was also named to the All District 11 Team and Offensive Player of the Year for the North Piedmont Conference. She averaged 17 points, 3.5 assists and 3 steals for her Lake Norman team that finished 24-2. She will leave her legacy at LN as a former state champion and will be pursuing her college degree at the Naval Academy and compete on the women’s basketball team. Sending you much success Kelsey!

One of North Carolina’s best three-point shooters, if not the best. Her ability to stroke the triple at a very high percentage and with deep range has allowed Kelsey to sign with the US Naval Academy to further her basketball career and education. She has a competitive drive and High IQ that is unmatched. Look for continued success this season for her and her teammates.

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC is coming off a state championship game with her Lake Norman team, and her ability to score from pretty much anywhere on the court is a big reason her team went on to a victory.  The lefty guard has a way of rolling the ball off her fingertips at the rim to score her points, and she can pull up for her shot against anyone no matter whose hands are in her way.  She doesn’t back down from guarding the best opposing player keeping them in front of her and making sure her hands cause some problems for them trying to get to the basket.  

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC is the remaining starter for the Wildcats.  The lefty is great getting to the rim and making nice adjustments rolling the ball off her fingertips to score some points no matter what hands are trying to get in her way.  Her ability to shoot from anywhere around the perimeter is also lethal as opponents seem to think they can give her some space if she’s a foot behind the line, but she quickly helps them realize their mistakes.  She’s aggressive on defense, too, picking the pocket of her opponents.

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC was attacking the basket well whether she was driving it herself or finding the opening and scoring off the pass.  She can make the full court pass hitting her teammates in stride as they get to the basket to score on a fast break.  She continues her strong three point shooting ability from all around the perimeter including a game tying three pointer from the corner to take the championship game into overtime.

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC showed off her range shooting the ball, and she was doing a nice job on defense following shots to grab the rebound.  She even showed off her length blocking a shot on a fast break.  She does a nice job using fakes to get the right pass to her teammates. 

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC is an excellent finisher on the court making smart cuts in the paint and using her moves to finish at the rim.  She used ball fakes to get to the rim, too, showing how she can score off the dribble.  She also showed her range shooting the ball from deep, and she did a nice job boxing out pushing her opponents away from the potential rebound.

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC uses her ball handling to create some space and pull up for her jumpers.  She definitely isn’t going to stop after hitting her 150th three pointer as she continued that on Saturday.  She does it all for her team, too, grabbing steals and even generating some nice box outs to grab rebounds.

Kelsey Rhyne Kelsey Rhyne 5'10" | SG Lake Norman | 2026 State NC is so effective making cuts to the hoop.  She can catch the ball in stride knowing exactly what she wants to do with it to score some points.  She scores through contact making some three point plays the old fashioned way, and she is sure to continue her sharp shooting from deep throughout this season. 

There is no shame in seeing a team’s season end at the hands of a team that was 4A runners-up. That was the case for the 2023-24 rendition of Rhyne’s Lake Norman team. The Wildcats finished the season with a 26-3 record along with going a perfect 13 out of 13 in its conference. Charlotte Catholic, last season’s 4A runners-up, brought an end to the Wildcats’ season deep in the playoffs. Rhyne had herself a banner 2023-24 as she averaged a robust 15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 3.2 steals per contest. She will have two more seasons at the high school level before she heads to Navy to play her collegiate ball.
