I had a chance to visit the Riverdale Baptist School today for their open gym and was impressed with the diverse skillset that the Crusaders will be putting on the floor for the 2022-23 season. The players performed will in front of the college coaches on hand and Coach Shawn Wright seemed excited about the upcoming season.

Here are some of the players to watch this season for the Crusaders.

[player_tooltip player_id='325274' first='Zanai' last='Barnett'] l 5-8 l Guard l 2023

This team will obviously structure their offense around Barnett. The Navy commit looked poised on the floor showing off some good dribble work and change of speed on her drives. Her shot was solid and her game seems to have elevated to all-met level over the years.

[player_tooltip player_id='319247' first='Randi' last='Griffin'] l 6-3 l Post l 2023

We've watched Randi grow up over the years and she has grown to 6'3" and playing the best basketball of her life. She showed that she can hit the midrange shot and has the ability to take it coast to coast and finish. Her length made her disruptive inside on defense as nothing came easy in the paint when she was around.

[player_tooltip player_id='319239' first='Yanniah' last='Boyd'] l 5-10 l Wing l 2023

Yanniah showed a lot of different aspects to her game. She used a good floater in the lane, showed a good shot and she finished very well in traffic and on the break. Binghamton may have the steal of 2023 with her especially if they are adding her sister.

[player_tooltip player_id='163893' first='Kamari' last='Sims'] l 6-1 l Post l 2023

Kamari is headed to George Washington University next year and they have locked in a pretty good player. She is strong inside and was looking to show off her perimeter skills today. She has a pretty good handle and can hit the mid-range shot. If she can tighten up her driving angles more and get even more physical she can dominate this high school season.

[player_tooltip player_id='319248' first='Tayla' last='Perry'] l 6-2 l Wing l 2023

Tayla is a long wing. I watched her finish well at the basket and saw that she has range from the three. She can be disruptive in the lane on defense because of her length and athleticism and should be an impact player on such a talented roster.

[player_tooltip player_id='319253' first='Camille' last='Crooks'] l 6-0 l Wing l 2024

Camille's body and frame makes her a wing but she spent the open gym playing with her back to the basket and was extremely effective. She dominated inside against everyone six feet and under and finished very well by the rim.

Yanessa Boyd l 5-9 l Guard l 2023

Janiya has a really good shooting touch and is a threat from the three even from multiple steps behind. Her shooting will prove to be extremely valuable the Crusaders this season as it could be the game changer in a lot of games.

Key Gain: [player_tooltip player_id='163893' first='Kamari' last='Sims'] transferred in from Spalding

Key Loss: Drew Jordan transferred out to Bishop McNamara

Up and comer to watch: MaKenzie Jackson (Team Durant) 2028

MaKenzie was from the middle school invited in for the numbers and impressed holding her own and even out playing some of the high school players.
