The Teams weren’t only from the hoop state, though, as the following standouts were from the state just north of the border. Make sure to check out these Virginia standouts during their high school seasons.
Joi Williams showed her range shooting the ball. She knew when to take the ball to the hoop or show off her pull up jumper. She was making three pointers no matter who was in her face. She did a nice job jumping into passing lanes grabbing steals to push the other direction. Her ability to shoot from deep off of set plays definitely helped her team close the gap in the fourth quarter.
Cai Smith was versatile on the court making some nice moves on the block whether her back started to the basket or she was scoring off of an offensive rebound. She hustled up and down the court being ready for some transition points or knocking the ball away on defense. She had some nice plays showing off various finishes at the rim being able to score no matter where she started with the ball.
Highlights
Yacine Ndiaye is a strong post player knowing how to seal off her opponents using what the defender gives her. She did well using her length to block shots. She worked with her teammates running high-low post options finding her open teammate on the block. She was persistent when it came to grabbing rebounds.

Taniyah Wallace knocked down her shot from deep hitting multiple in the second quarter increasing the lead for her team even when her defender was in good position. She had a nice transition three late in the third quarter showing her ability to always be ready to shoot the ball. Her court awareness was observed with the way she found the gaps in the defense to put up her shot.
Sira Thienou had a nice Euro step move on a solo fast break leading to some points for her team. She used her athleticism to get up and over her opponents for the rebound. She jumped into passing lanes, too, grabbing steals to push the other direction for some fast breaks. She had a nice move in the paint moving up and under to create space and score two points. She grabbed an offensive rebound and immediately found her teammate cutting to the hoop for their own points.

Laniyah Ginger Laniyah Ginger 5’10” | PF VA was strong on the block grabbing rebounds, and she used offensive boards to make her move and pull up for a jumper. She did a nice job sealing off her opponents to be able to make her cut to the hoop ready to catch and shoot the ball. She certainly has a bright future ahead with her ability to already play at a high level.
