In a tough first-round win over Lincoln, Gardner led all scorers with 30 points. This sends Mead into the quarterfinals. This game was a rematch of last year’s state tournament, with Mead winning that one too. My prediction on this one was wrong, much of that because of Gardner and the next player here on the list.
Addison Morrison
Addison Morrison
It looks like we may have missed Addison on our rankings. She scored 19 points and was the 2nd leading scorer for Mead. A possible rankings riser when they are updated. We see you.
Bellarmine Prep somehow ended up with an 11 seed and got 30 pounds from the sensational Sophomores guard in their first-round win. This backcourt is one of the best in the state. She is electric and showed why she is a highly-ranked guard in prep hoops.
Another piece of that backcourt and also an underclassmen. She had 19 points to help Bellarmine Prep advance out of the first round. This is a team that nobody wants to see come up in the bracket. They can beat anyone and it starts with their talented backcourt.
Tahoma had little trouble dispatching Davis with Hassman scoring 29 points and adding 7 steals. She is a competitor and showed why she is ranked number 6 in the Class of 2023’s updated rankings.

Wapato is advancing to the quarterfinals with a win over Deer Park. Bass had 22 points to lead the Wolves. She is an all-tournament-type player and is off to a great start. I expect to see more great performances from her as the tournament continues.
Lake Washington can shoot the rock. This is a big reason they beat Stanwood in the first-round match-up. Hani had 4 threes and 15 points to lead an always-balanced attack for LW. They have multiple players who can shoot it and are guard heavy with some good ones. Hani is 6’1 but most of the rest are of smaller stature.

Helped prove me wrong on this prediction as well. She tied for team-high scoring honors with 15 points. She is a talented player who can do a lot of things at a high level, including scoring from the point guard position. Catherine Ellard also had 15 for 5 seed Kings in the first-round win over 4 seed Montesano.
Arlington came up big with a win over Lakeside. Another prediction gone wrong for me. Morrow is a big reason why. She had 25 points to lead her team. She has been scoring well lately as a secondary scoring option behind Jenna Villa Jenna Villa 6’1″ | SF Arlington | 2023 State WA . She also scored a season-high 37 points in a district game.

She has been scorching the nets all season. It was no different as she scored 25 in an opening-round loss to Tahoma. The only difference was that Davis lost for only the 2nd time this year.
