You are a setup person, you are a shooter, you are a defender and you will take the charge or dive on the floor for your team. We love this type of player and will give praise to them each and every time we step into a crowded gym. Coaches are looking for these type of players, because they are so rare to the game. If you have ever seen one, you will never forget what you saw, because their worth to the game is much more than the others players on the floor and you can always see the impact, if you are really watching. So check out these impact players we identified this past weekend in Portland, Oregon at the End of the Trail National Showcase.
2021, 5’9, SG, Central Valley HS (WA), Grace Geldien is a monster on the floor, she is the do everything type player, she can shoot it, she can handle it as well rebound and block shots on the floor. We watched her take over the game with her active motor, she never stopped moving on the floor and was about in every play that her team executed. Now when you say good body type, you are talking about her, she has a strong solid frame, that is already ready for the college game. Her leadership on the floor was excellent as well, this kid will be playing at the next level for sure. A pleasure to watch her play.
2022, 5’8, PG, Lake City HS (WA), Kendall Pickford was the catalyst to her team, she shot the ball really well, but that is not all this kid could do, she was a great rebounder, she got out to ball and blocked a few shots. Her frame is long and lanky for her size, she is by far one of the better shooters we saw at this event, but her motor and passion to play defense kept us intrigued. She knocked down a few long three ball, that is what caught our attention, she was able to come off the picks and nail these shots. Loved watching her play the past weeknd.
2021, 5’6, PG, Glacier Peak HS (WA), Aaliyah Collins is a smooth an savvy point guard with a nice feel to her game, she can shoot it, handles it well, IQ is pretty good and is a good passer. She is a firecracker, she plays off her teammates which is entirely hard to do, she is there compliment each and every time they step on the floor. She was quick as a rabbit, strong as a lioness and was truely athletic for her size. She got great lift on her jumpshot, she was strong to the basket on their fastbreak, but her main asset was her leadership on the floor. She did not allow her teammates to make mistakes without really talking with them. A very good trait for her to have on the floor.
2022, 6’3, C, Mat-Su Career and Tech HS (AK), Cheyanne Frantzich is a big body post player with some adequate post moves on the block, definitely a great rebounder for her team as well as a shot blocker. She was a fierce force in the paint for her opponents, she changed shots and also made it tough for girls to drive into the paint. She is young and could be still growing, but her presence in the paint is a distraction for most as well as her timing on her blocked shots.
With that said, you see we saw some girls that are not even residing in California, these girls caught our eyes and that is why they are recieving the best honor possible for the girls, it was very easy and fun to watch them play this past weekend. I salute all of the girls listed and stay tuned in for more stories for girls around the West Coast Region of the the United States.
