As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Girls Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2022 class
Ali Zeka, 5’8, G, 2022, Wellington
An aggressive player who can contribute anywhere on the floor. She is a smart rebounder and is good at creating the ball in the air. She is quick on her feet and jumps passing lanes and looks to contest shots. She is also good at creating plays for herself. She puts her head down and gets to the basket and finishes through contact or cleans up misses and get to the free-throw line.
Ellie Munds, 5’4, G, 2022, Wichita Collegiate
A creative player with good instincts and a knack for openings. She sees the floor and can pass and handle the ball well. Munds is a feisty defender and she can also find her rhythm behind the three-point line. She has a nice step back allowing her to get that extra space between her and her defender and can drain 3-pointers when she’s in the zone.
Kristen Biltoft, G, 2022, Jefferson West
An impressive guard to keep your eyes on who shows the ability to play several positions. She can play as a spot-up shooter from distance around the wing and corner 3 area. she can also handle herself and open space and finds ways to get around opponents and can score and mid-range and close to the basket
Landrea Sears, G, 2022, Sedan
A solid player who can score, force turnovers and rebound well for her age. She just goes out and plays her game. She doesn’t wait for others to make a play when she can do it herself. She can score well and finds ways to make baskets inside and out. A confident player who plays strong and physical.
Maya Simmons, G, 2022, Wichita East
A nice shooting guard who can get on the board quickly with her 3-point shooting. She has a strong build and can use her strength on both ends of the floor. She can handle it song and acts as a catch-and-shoot scorer well for her age. She has a soft touch to her shot and is smart on the defensive end and can steal pass and get out in transition.
