Genesis Hopkins
About Genesis
Expert Analysis

Hopkins really put the team on her back against Roosevelt as they dealt with constant full court pressure. She was one of the few players on her team who could get consistent penetration in the half court and actually applied some nice moves when she had even a little bit of space. It was a really rough first quarter for both teams, but Hopkins started finding success getting downhill, got tall on defense to block some shots, and really created most of the action all game for the Cougars. They ended up losing a close game but have one more to go against West Seattle to determine their seed for the district two tournament.

Genesis is a post player who does a lot of things well. She is a great shot blocker, with excellent timing. She averaged 4 blocks per game last season. She rebounds well. She averaged 11 of those last season. Her footwork is excellent with pivots and moves to create space to score in the paint. She will kick the ball out to open shooters from the post (underrated skill). She averaged 18 points per game last season, making it a double double average with the rebounds. She can also run the floor as a good athlete. She is on the possible rankings risers list for 2024.
