Over 60 players in attendance, battling after everything, absorbing what was being taught and utilizing that in both the skill sessions, 3 on 3, 1 on 1 and of course, 5 on 5 . Here are a few of those players
Arrinna Faulks and Zoe Nelson2020
Arrianna Faulks-5’8 G (Ellison HS) explosive first step, stop and pops going full speed, athleticism major place as she not only elevates over defenders for baskets but she also plays the passing lane and her ability to anticipate leads to steals for easy baskets. She plays the same way, no matter what
R’Yanni Vaughn -5’5 G (Weiss HS) one of those #sizedontmatter guards that just gives everything on both ends. She defends baseline to baseline, she scores from the outside and she can run a team
Hailey Marie-Smith 5’7 G (Eastview HS) tough guard that can play, throwback mindset because she is on the floor for everything, has a knack for being around the ball to make plays but she can score, so many ways. Her midrange was one of the best not only at the event but in games I’ve seen her since
Breiya Hadnot-5’7 G (Westbrook HS) athletic guard that plays within herself yet can turn it on at a blink of an eye. When you can get yours in the flow, that’s great but she’s a player that can fill up the stat sheet easily. She defends, even battles taller players for rebounds
Devin MayberryAakiyah Sorrells-5’7 G (Stony Point) when your nickname is “The Microwave” that sort of gives you hint because when she’s on, she can score abundantly and effortlessly in bunches. Catch and shoot, stop and pop, attack the rim, it doesn’t matter and her athleticism only adds to the equation
Alaina Antwine-5’6 G (Keller Central HS) one of the most athletic players at showcase, grabbed rebound and went coast to coast for baskets several times but her ability to take defenders at will, play passing lane and go hard no matter what the setting is sold me
Devin Mayberry-5’11 F (Connally HS) battler, punishes, won’t be outworked and keeps coming back for more because she can not only give it but she can take it as well. Creates issues around the rim, soft touch and finishes after the lick and she rebounds well on both ends
2021
Destiny O’Keefe-5’8 G (Communications Arts HS) throwback mentality of you won’t outwork her as she plays bigger than her size. Physical, on both ends, in fact punishes would be more appropriate but the midrange is sold, so is the defense and watching her use the drop step effectively ….
Zoe Nelson 6’1 G (Hendrickson HS) plays all 5 positions, shall I stop? Probably not because she won’t and by that I mean she keeps adding to her game. Understanding she can take over at will has been huge, she attacks. hits midrange or the deep ones, rebounds, handles the ball under pressure and defends in the paint or on the perimeter
Jordan Lyons -5’7 G (Vista Ridge HS) she keeps coming at you, never takes a play off kid of player that attacks the basket relentlessly . She can finish with either hand, after contact and she can shoot it, mid to very long range but on top of all of that, she threw some of the best “no looks” on the money
Londyn SteereLondyn Steere-5’10 G (Glenn HS) was impressed with her game the first time I saw her but she’s taken it to another level. Long, athletic, gets her shot off with ease and it’s accurate as she creates it under pressure. She also can put it on the floor and finish
Lanay Fuller-5’10 F (Hendrickson HS) taken game up several notches over the years, use size and athleticism well as she can create her shot, nice midrange with defenders hanging on her and speaking of defenders hanging on her, she was an and one waiting to happen
Presley Young-5’9 G (Blanco HS) nice midrange, very good form and has a quick release plus her shot is quite accurate. She also mixes it up , taking defenders off the dribble and showed a step back but she does a very good job of getting hers in the flow
Jazra Williams-5’11 F (Vista Ridge HS)-one of the most improved players in the state over the past season, use size nicely, finishes inside or can face the basket and hit the mid-rage consistently, can knock down the long ball. Defends well and rebounds on both ends of the floor
Tse Nizhomi-Morgan & Jazra Williams2022
Tse Nzhon-Morgan -6’0 F (Jack C Hays HS) first impressions mean a lot with me and watching her dive on the floor for loose balls grabbed my attention. She’s physical, uses body very well to finish strong and rebounds on both ends of the court and when she started dropping the long ball, yessssss
Belecia Martinez -5’4 G (Incarnate Word) her nickname is Belle and rightfully so because once she gets going, I’m hearing “ring my bell” as she creates her shot under pressure and mixes both the stutter step and step back nicely. Great range, mid to long
