The mark of consistency, came into the season starting to be one of the more sought after players in the 2027 class! A very versatile player, Amaya was selected to first-team all-Vissaa and player of the year. She lead her team in points and rebounds a game. At 5’10 and able to play multiple positions her shot making and shooting ability separates her and make Amaya is a match up nightmare on the floor!

Ramey is a physical guard who thrives attacking the paint and finishing through contact. She rebounds well and contributes as a strong interior scorer. Her toughness and scoring ability will continue to elevate her game.

Amaya Ramey had an incredible year for Virginia Academy in her first year there. Amaya is a little streaky, but she is developing into a great spot-up shooter. Amaya is strong, and when she attacks the paint, you see players bounce off of her consistently. Virginia Academy was not healthy most of this year, but their success has to be attributed to Amaya in a lot of ways. Amaya was named player of the year for VISAA Division 2 and averaged 18 PPG and 7 RPG.

Amaya Ramey Amaya Ramey 5'10" | SG Virginia Academy | 2027 State VA has been as good as any wing in NOVA this season. She didn’t have a monster game in this one, but her buckets were timely and a great example of what she brings to the table. She showed off her elite strength, bullying defenders in the paint. She had crafty finishes and really turned it on in the 4th quarter. She had a huge block that halted some of the momentum Steward had on offense late in the 4th.

Ramey contributed 11 points, including Virginia Academy ‘s first 4 points of the fourth quarter to help shift momentum. She demonstrated patience in the paint, using pivots and body control to finish over defenders, and added a clutch step-back from the short corner. Defensively, she hustled for loose balls, rebounded in traffic, and quickly turned stops into transition opportunities.

Amaya Ramey Amaya Ramey 5'10" | SG Virginia Academy | 2027 State VA is a physical, downhill attacker who uses her body well to protect the ball as she drives to the basket. She plays off contact effectively, keeping defenders on her hip while attacking gaps from the perimeter and positioning herself well to finish.

She brings value inside the paint as a scorer and rebounder, consistently crashing the boards for extra possessions. In addition to her interior presence, Ramey is capable of knocking down shots from the perimeter and reacting quickly in transition, allowing her to impact the game in multiple phases.

Amaya Ramey Amaya Ramey 5'10" | SG Virginia Academy | 2027 State VA was a force on the block getting into position and sealing off her opponents with power dribbles to bank it off the glass.  She hit her shot from deep, and she battled inside against contact making sure she always had a chance for some points.  She saw open lanes attacking from the top of the key making it count through some tough defenders.

Amaya Ramey Amaya Ramey 5'10" | SG Virginia Academy | 2027 State VA has been one of the most productive wings in NOVA so far this season, and I like the fit at her new school in Virginia Academy. Amaya knocked down a couple of threes, and she used her elite strength to do good work as a driver. Dating back to her time at Woodgrove, I saw a lot of her work as a shooter being in the corner. Now I feel like her shooting has spread out to other parts of the court, and she does more creating her own than I saw in the past. Maybe that has to do with being in a newish role, but either way, Amaya has turned into an outstanding shooter.
