Ahh. The young pups. Are growing up fast and fierce. Like I mentioned before, it's never too early to take a look at the next generation of young hoopers who will be donning high schools jerseys on a court near you one day. In this edition of Next Gen. Prospects, we take a look at some of the hottest young ballers from the [program_tooltip program_id='712426' first='Bluff' last='City'].

I have always said, it's something different about hoopers that come from the 901. It's their mind set, hoopin is just something that is ingrained in them at a young age. Once you get those competitive juices flowing in you, add the sauce and the skill, it makes for a deadly combination. In [program_tooltip program_id='712426' first='Bluff' last='City'], this generation of athletes is coming out hungrier than ever. Just like so many others, these girls are hitting the travel scene heavily. They are coming out ready to compete on day 1 once they get to high school. It's evident in what we are seeing across the state with freshman girls making an impact for their ball clubs right away. The sitting and waiting for your turn mantra doesn't exist anymore.

Memphis as you know is the basketball Mecca in our state. The success of so many has and their teachings have been passed down to younger generations. The support for hoops is there. Once you get that mindset, work ethic, and frame of mind right, it's on.

Here are some notable future names around [program_tooltip program_id='712426' first='Bluff' last='City'] that you need to keep your eyes on that are in the 8th grade.

[player_tooltip player_id='1154969' first='Caidyn' last='Sanders'] (5'6/PG/Colonial)- Shifty PG who has great size. A downhill threat that gets to the rim with ease. Has incredible court vision and a high basketball IQ. Can score it from all 3 levels and lock up on D. Solid prospect who gets after it every time she steps on the floor.

Unique Burnett (5'9/ PF/ Highland Oaks)- She's a true hooper that can stretch the floor. Can knock it down from the outside, but she battles within. In the painted areas and short mid-range spots, she's money. She's on the boards heavily, gaining more possessions for her club. Runs the floor well, getting pitch ahead passes for easy lays. Great prospect who will be a solid addition for her next high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='1154937' first='Dallas' last='McElroy'] (5 '6/SG/ Ridgeway)- Scoring guard who can pull it or put it on the floor, either way, it's finding the bottom of the net. Scoring is what she does and this young lady is a big-time contributor when it comes to this statistical category. She's a heady ball player who doesn't just score the rock, but will also sit down and lock up on D. Has an amazing understanding of the game and will pick her spots to exploit. The future is bright for this young ball player.

Azaria Blocker (5'8/PG/ Highland Oaks)- Swiss Army knife, she does a little bit of everything. 3 level score who can put the ball in the hole, dish it to open teammates , and of course locks up on the defensive end. She is great at speeding the other team up, forcing turnovers. She has great size, which enables her to get in on the rebounding action . She's a heady prospect who anticipates well and is always thinking ahead.

Mariah Harris (5'5/G/ Ridgeway)- Heady ball player who finds the bottom of the net at a consistent clip. Scoring is what she does and it doesn't matter if it's beyond the arc or from within, she has the confidence to let it go. She utilizes her speed to create chaos on the defensive end, getting steals or poking balls loose. Has a good feel for the game, if she isn't able to get her shot off, she knows where her open teammates are for an easy feed. Great prospect who will continue to grow into something special

[player_tooltip player_id='792258' first='Aaliyah' last='Davis'] (5'5/ PG/ White Station) - Confident young ball player who is a heady floor general. She can penetrate gaps, pull up in transition, and finish at the rim. She has amazing court vision where she knows where her teammates are at all times. When she gets paint touches, she feels where pressure comes from, hitting open teammates with timely passes. I love that she can put the ball in the net, but she is also selfless and will share the rock. She will lock up on the defensive end, disrupting her opponent's offensive sets. Great young prospect who will come in and contribute at the next level.
